Description
Born of the performance of our renowned THERMO big game bluewater reels, the Sage ENFORCER has been updated and fine-tuned for the power, reliability, and dura- bility needs of the saltwater flats angler. Designed with peak performance in mind, the ENFORCER offers everything the flats angler needs in a reel, whether taming the explosive runs of double-digit Bonefish or putting the brakes on the freight train pull of triple-digit tarpon. Simply put, this is the ultimate saltwater reel for flats and heavy-duty fly-fishing applications.
But battles on the flats are exercises in nuance and chaos, so we’ve beefed up the O-rings and drag plates for added durability, consistency, and reliability. Maximum drag has been increased by 50% over the ENFORCER’s predecessor, the SPECTRUM MAX; you’ll find eight pounds at the arbor in the 7/8 size, 15 pounds in the 9/10 size, and 17 pounds at the arbor in the 11/12 size. For saltwater anglers fishing heavy tippets who don’t want to let fish run continuously—or who care enough about their fingers to avoid palming fast spinning spools—this increased drag allows them to get most out of their reel without sacrificing any metacarpals.
From the first time an angler stepped onto the flats with a fly rod, it’s been well known that reels can take a beating in this environment; sand, wind, and salt love nothing more than finding a cozy spot inside a saltwater reel. The ENFORCER is more durable than any of our saltwater flats reels, with larger drag discs to better disperse pressure and maintain the consistency of the power band throughout the fight by stabilizing inherent stopping strength. An all-new reel foot design with radiused corners prevents abrasion to leaders wrapped around the reel foot for storage—or in the unfortunate, but inevitable, moments when the line wraps around the foot in the initial chaos of the hookup.
Take these features—the old standbys, the innovations—and wrap them up in a bur- lier and more rigid and rugged cold-forged aluminum frame and you have a reel that will stand up to the drops, knocks, and beatdowns that frequently occur in saltwater fishing situations.

This warranty is limited to repair and replacement of the rod, blank, or reel and does not cover direct, indirect, consequential, incidental, or any other type of damage resulting from the use of the product. This warranty does not cover fire, theft, missing rod sections, intentional breakage, modification or customization of the finished rod, or damage during the assembly of a blank into a finished rod. Warranty coverage on Sage blanks does not extend to any custom work or components added to the blanks. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.

The original owner warranty against defects in materials and workmanship applies to rods with a serial # beginning with the letter "A" and higher, including all double letters (i.e., AA, AB, and AC). Should breakage occur outside of warranty coverage (when it's not the result of material defects or workmanship), a repair can usually be made for a fee.
One exception is the rods manufactured with a serial number Q, R, S, or T. These rods carry an unconditional, original owner lifetime warranty.
PLEASE NOTE: Sage blanks are not serialized. Warranty coverage on rods built from Sage blanks is limited to the blank only.

FAQ
Who Is the Sage ENFORCER For?
The Sage ENFORCER was designed for anglers who need a purpose-built saltwater reel without venturing into the highest price tier of the market. Built from the foundation of Sage's THERMO bluewater reels, the ENFORCER combines substantial drag power, exceptional durability, and rugged construction into a reel optimized for permit, bonefish, tarpon, giant trevally, roosterfish, and other hard-fighting gamefish.
One of the ENFORCER's biggest strengths is the value it offers. While many premium saltwater reels now push the thousand-dollar mark, the ENFORCER delivers fully sealed drag performance, impressive stopping power, and reliability at a more approachable price point. For anglers assembling their first dedicated saltwater outfit—or experienced travelers looking for a reel that performs well without carrying the same price tag—the ENFORCER stands out as one of the strongest values in saltwater fly fishing.
What Makes the Sage ENFORCER Drag System Different?
The ENFORCER features a fully sealed carbon fiber drag system that delivers substantially more stopping power than the previous Sage SPECTRUM MAX platform. Maximum drag has increased by roughly 50%, resulting in approximately 8 pounds of drag in the 7/8WT, 15 pounds in the 9/10WT, and 17 pounds in the 11/12WT.
More importantly, Sage enlarged the drag discs and improved the internal sealing system to create a broader, more consistent power band throughout the fight. The larger drag surface helps distribute pressure more evenly while maintaining smooth, predictable performance under heavy loads.
What Is the Purpose of the New Reel Foot Design?
One of the most overlooked improvements on the ENFORCER is the redesigned reel foot. Sage incorporated radiused corners to help prevent abrasion when leaders are wrapped around the reel for storage, as well as providing a little cushion in the event your line wraps around the foot after you first hook up and the fish takes its first run. These small details help land more fish!
What Do the Numbers on the Sage ENFORCER Drag Knob Mean?
Unlike many fly reels that use unmarked drag knobs, the Sage ENFORCER features a numbered drag adjustment system that allows anglers to make repeatable, predictable drag changes on the water.
This may seem like a small detail, but it becomes surprisingly useful when switching between species, adjusting for different tippet strengths, or trying to quickly return to a drag setting that worked previously. Rather than guessing where the drag was set, anglers can simply note the number and return to that exact setting later.
The numbered system is particularly valuable in saltwater fishing, where conditions can change quickly. An angler might fish a lighter setting for bonefish, increase drag pressure for permit, or make substantial adjustments during a tarpon fight. The ability to reference specific drag settings removes much of the guesswork and helps create consistency from one fish to the next.
