CALL TO ACTION: PROTECT BRISTOL BAY! LAST CHANCE FOR A FINAL STAND IS NOW!
Final Chance to Submit Official Comments – Ends September 19, 2014 EPA Needs To Hear From You – Protect Bristol Bay!
Bristol Bay, Alaska is home to one of the last great salmon fisheries on the planet. The salmon, wildlife, people, and fishing jobs of this beautiful and productive region are threatened by the proposed Pebble gold and copper mine. If built, Pebble could become the largest mine in North America and affect our Salmon and landscape permanently. We have an unprecedented opportunity to stop this mine and protect Bristol Bay fish and jobs through the Clean Water Act.This comment period is the final, critical step. The EPA needs to hear that people across America support protections for wild salmon.
TAKE ACTION NOW by commenting on the proposed Bristol Bay 404 determination. Ask EPA to complete the Clean Water Act 404(c) process and protect Bristol Bay today. Then share with your vast networks of friends, family, fishing and hunting partners, colleagues, etc. With your help, we can win – thank you very much!”

This is the last comment period on Pebble.
The EPA has submitted a draft determination outlining restrictions on proposed mining of the Pebble deposit at the headwaters of Bristol Bay. Once this is over, the EPA will hopefully release a Recommended Determination, further solidifying the proposed restrictions. They will then consult with the State of Alaska and Northern Dynasty Minerals and then – hopefully – issue a Final Determination and implement the restrictions.
All of this could be done by January 2015. If that happens, the 8-year process we have been involved in to protect the world’s greatest salmon run and one of the truly epic fishing and hunting destinations on the planet will have come to a successful close.
