Description
Krystal Flash is one of the most widely used synthetic fly tying materials, made from fine, twisted strands of reflective mylar. The fibers are lightweight, durable, and add just the right amount of shimmer without overwhelming a pattern. Because the material catches and reflects light from multiple angles, it creates the impression of movement and life in the water, making it a go-to accent for both fresh and saltwater flies.
Best Uses:
-
Saltwater Patterns: Essential for bonefish, tarpon, and redfish flies where a touch of sparkle imitates scales or shrimp flash. Use in a wing for patterns like a gotcha, add a couple strands on shrimp patterns as antennae, palmer around the body on a Christmas island special... there is no limit to its uses in saltwater!
- Streamers: Adds hints of flash to streamer patterns both large and small for trout, bass, pike, peacock bass, and much, much more.
- Nymph & Emerger Bodies: A few strands incorporated into the body or thorax of a nymph provide subtle attraction or to imitate air bubbles trapped on emerging insects.
