Description
Fly Foam is a buoyant, versatile material used to add flotation, shape, and durability to a wide variety of fly patterns. Because it resists water absorption and compresses easily, fly foam is simple to tie with and maintains its buoyancy even after repeated use on the water.
Best Uses:
- Terrestrials and Attractors: A staple for grasshoppers, beetles, ants, and other land-based insects that need to ride high on the surface. Glue multiple sheets together to build bodies for flies such as the Morrish hopper, or layer different colors together as is done in a fat albert or chubby chernobyl. A must have for grasshopper, beetle, and some ant patterns.
- Gurglers and Poppers: Works as the core body and lip material for this classic surface fly, creating commotion and sound that attract predatory fish.
- Floating Crabs: Perfect for imitating crab carapaces in saltwater patterns.
