Description
3mm Foam is a thicker, highly buoyant tying material designed for patterns that need maximum floatation and durability. With added thickness compared to 2mm foam, it provides more structure and surface support—making it ideal for larger flies, rough water, and situations where keeping your fly riding high is critical. It’s easy to cut and shape, and like all quality fly foam, it resists water absorption and maintains performance over time.
Best Uses:
- Large terrestrials like hoppers and beetles
- Foam-bodied attractor patterns (Chubby Chernobyl, Fat Albert)
- Gurglers and poppers for strong surface disturbance
- Indicator-style flies and high-visibility patterns
- Floating crab patterns and larger saltwater flies
