Description
The Beadhead Hale Bopp Leech is a highly effective stillwater leech pattern originally popularized by Bill Ninke. Designed with a slim profile and flowing marabou movement, the fly imitates both leeches and other swimming forage that trout regularly key on in lakes and reservoirs.
One of the defining features of the Hale Bopp is the subtle flash incorporated into the body, which gives the fly extra visibility without overwhelming its otherwise natural profile. The bead head helps the fly sink quickly while adding a slight jigging motion during retrieves and pauses.
It is especially productive on slower retrieves where the marabou tail and body materials can pulse naturally in the water.
