Accommodation Details
Crescent Spur Lodge offers a comfortable and welcoming base for exploring the surrounding wilderness. The 14,000-square-foot lodge sits along the Fraser River on more than 600 acres of private land in the Rocky Mountain Trench, surrounded by the Northern Rockies and Cariboo Mountains.

Built from massive hand-hewn timber, the ranch-style lodge reflects the character of the surrounding wilderness while offering the comfort and hospitality of a welcoming mountain retreat.

The lodge features 20 private guest rooms, though summer tours are intentionally limited to a maximum of just 11 guests at a time, ensuring a relaxed and uncrowded lodge experience.

Lunches are prepared daily by our chefs and packed for guests to enjoy while fishing or exploring the surrounding mountains.

After returning from the day’s fishing, guests gather for drinks and appetizers from the full-service bar and extensive wine list before dinner.

Non-Angling Activities and Options
In addition to the fishing program, Crescent Spur also offers guided heli-hiking experiences throughout the surrounding mountains. These hikes explore remote ridgelines, alpine lakes, waterfalls, and wildflower meadows across the Northern Rockies and Cariboo Mountains.

Many guests visit Crescent Spur as couples, where one guest may spend the day fishing while the other enjoys hiking in the surrounding alpine terrain before meeting back at the lodge in the evening.

Internet &  Communications
Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge via Starlink. Cell service is generally available at the lodge, though most fishing locations are remote and outside of cell coverage.

How To Get There
Most guests will choose to travel via air by flying to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to begin and then taking a domestic flight on the first day of their trip to Prince George Airport (YXS). Nonstop daily service is offered for these domestic flights with Air Canada and Westjet. Upon arrival at Prince George, Crescent Spur will meet you and transfer you the approximate 2-hour shuttle ride to the lodge. 

After your stay, the scheduled transfer will depart for Prince George Airport. The lodge asks that all guests book their departing flights on the morning of your outgoing day, and recommend you allow at least 1.5 hours in between your connection from the Vancouver Airport back home.  

Documents Required
A passport is required for U.S. citizens to enter Canada. Anglers are also required to purchase a British Columbia freshwater fishing license and we do recommend doing this online prior to arrival.

Drunk Driving or other Criminal Record
Anyone with a criminal record (including a drunk driving conviction) may be excluded from Canada. A waiver of exclusion may be issued but several weeks are required and a processing fee must be paid. Contact the Canadian Embassy or a Canadian Consulate in the U.S. for more information.

General Information
From Crescent Spur Lodge, guides use helicopter access to reach a wide variety of remote waters. Each day, guides select from rivers, streams, and alpine lakes across the surrounding mountains, allowing anglers to experience a diverse range of fisheries throughout their stay.

The primary species targeted are bull trout and rainbow trout. Bull trout fishing is a highlight of the program, with anglers often targeting aggressive fish using large streamer patterns in clear mountain rivers. Depending on conditions, anglers may also fish dry flies and nymphs for wild rainbow trout.

During the day, guides may move between multiple fishing locations using short helicopter flights, or “heli bumps,” to access fresh water that receives little to no angling pressure. When fishing alpine lakes for rainbow trout, anglers may fish from float tubes, inflatable docks, or Jon boats.

Depending on water levels and river conditions, guides may also incorporate raft floats on select rivers or utilize jet boats to access larger tributaries that feed into the Fraser River. With access to a wide range of fisheries and techniques, anglers can expect varied and scenic days pursuing bull trout and rainbow trout across remote wilderness waters.

Fishing Program
Typical fishing days may include:

• walk-and-wade fishing on remote freestone rivers

• streamer fishing for bull trout

• dry fly fishing for wild rainbow trout

• sight fishing in alpine lakes
• float fishing on select rivers

Trips are limited to 8 anglers, with a 2:1 guide-to-guest ratio, allowing guides to tailor each day to the interests, abilities, and conditions on the water.

With a short season running from early July through late August, Crescent Spur hosts approximately 50 anglers each year, allowing guides to continually explore a wide variety of rivers and lakes throughout the region.

Single anglers are always welcome, and many guests travel on their own. Individual anglers are paired with another guest of similar ability and fishing style.

Helicopter Access
Helicopter access is a defining part of the Crescent Spur experience, allowing guides to reach remote rivers, streams, and alpine lakes throughout the surrounding mountains. Rather than fishing the same water each day, guides can choose from a wide range of fisheries depending on conditions and the goals of the group.

Short helicopter flights, or “heli bumps,” are often used during the day to move between sections of water and explore different areas of the fishery.

Boats and Equipment
Most fishing at Crescent Spur is done by walk-and-wade in the region’s clear rivers and streams after accessing the area by helicopter. Depending on conditions and the plan for the day, guides may also incorporate raft floats on select rivers, allowing anglers to cover longer sections of water.

Guides also access remote alpine lakes where float tubes, inflatable docks, or Jon boats are used to reach productive water.

Fishing and Hiking Combinations
Crescent Spur is an excellent destination for couples. Alongside the fishing program, the lodge offers guided heli-hiking experiences that explore alpine ridgelines, waterfalls, wildflower meadows, and remote lakes throughout the Northern Rockies and Cariboo Mountains.

Many guests visit Crescent Spur because one partner can fish while the other spends the day hiking in the surrounding mountains before meeting back at the lodge in the evening.

To maintain a relaxed and uncrowded atmosphere, each tour hosts a maximum of 11 total guests, typically a small group of anglers along with a few hiking guests.

Private lodge buyouts and customized itineraries can also be arranged for groups seeking a more tailored experience.

Package Rates
Remember that Yellow Dog’s services are completely free! When you book a trip with Yellow Dog, you never pay more than when you book directly with the lodge or outfitter. Shorter stays can be accommodated based on availability as long as you either arrive or depart on a Friday or pay an additional transfer fee. The lodge does have a 4-night minimum stay.

Payment Terms for All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings  
Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, for all trips less than 90 days out, full payment is required after receipt of the confirmation email to secure guides and reservations. For trips outside of 90 days, a 50% deposit is required upon receipt of confirmation email to confirm your reservations.
