FAQ
How tough are the cutters, and what can they cut?
The HR 70+ anvil tungsten carbide side cutters make quick work of monofilament and handle modern braided and synthetic lines with ease -- materials that dull a standard steel cutter fast. They're rated to cut wire up to 60 lbs, which covers most saltwater leader and wire applications an angler is likely to run into.
What's the half smooth, half striated jaw design about?
The jaws combine a smooth section and a striated (textured) section in one tool -- the smooth side is gentler for delicate work like unhooking fish or handling fine tippet without damaging it, while the striated side grips more aggressively for pulling knots tight, crimping, or gripping larger hooks and hardware. Having both in one plier means fewer tools to carry for different jobs.
What's included with the plier?
It comes as a complete kit: a coiled lanyard to keep the plier secured and within reach, a molded clip-on holster for belt or pack storage, and a set of replacement cutters and jaws with a hex key -- so when the cutting edge eventually wears down, you can swap it out rather than replacing the whole tool.
