Description
Goose biots have been used for decades for nymph tails, prince nymph wings, and wrapped bodies on mayfly patterns. Depending on how you utilize a goose biot, a tier can get a smooth body on the mayfly pattern or a more segmented pattern on a nymph by the side in which they tie the biot into the hook.
Best Uses:
- Tails & Horns: Commonly used for tails and legs on nymphs, as well as “horns” on stoneflies. The natural stiffness helps maintain shape and separation.
- Nymph Bodies: Ideal for creating slim, segmented bodies on small nymphs. Produces a clean, durable finish with strong visual definition.
- Dry Flies: Excellent for segmented bodies and small dry fly details where a segmented, tapered profile improves both appearance and performance.
