Trip Overview
Midnight Sun Trophy Pike Adventures is a long-time Yellow Dog favorite for any angler looking for some of the best Northern Pike fishing found anywhere in the world. MSTPA fishes more than 350 river miles of the remote Yukon Drainage and they are the only ones operating throughout this entire fishery. These professional guides provide a level of experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm that ensures the trip of a lifetime for anglers interested in hooking some of the largest northern pike. The Yukon tributary provides the perfect environment for growing huge Alaskan pike: cool, slow-moving water, an unlimited food source, and time for the pike to grow old and fat – ranging anywhere from 10 pounds to 25 pounds and even the occasional 40-pound monster! New for the 2021 season and moving forward, accommodations are aboard a custom-built, 40-foot ballistic catamaran Patriot that will serve as a liveaboard mothership, moving each day throughout the expansive Yukon fishery.

Lodging Details
Midnight Sun operates out of a ballistic Patriot Catamaran liveaboard mothership. This vessel allows anglers to move throughout the expansive fishery each day, covering more water over the course of the week than ever before. The Patriot has been outfitted with three staterooms, a shared bathroom and separate shower, and all comfortable amenities for up to four guests per week. Each room is set up with two twin beds, a reading lamp for each bed, and storage for clothing and personal items. The lounge and dining area provide ample room to stretch out, relax and exchange the day’s fish stories. The lounge area is equipped with a stereo, TV, and a large table that doubles as the indoor dining table as well as a late-night fly tying area. The bow deck is set up for those wanting to enjoy a bug-free, quiet drink and watch Alaska’s midnight sun skirt the horizon.

Food and Beverages
Meals aboard Midnight Sun are substantial, which is why the staff likes to refer to the menu as ”Viking food!” You can expect steaks, pork chops, pastas, salads and sides, and great desserts. Lunches are enjoyed on the boat each day and the crew will pack all of the drinks, sandwiches, snacks, and chips that you want. All sodas, beer, and wine are included in the package.

Typical Length of Stay
The standard package at Midnight Sun is seven (7) nights / six (6) fishing days, running from Saturday to Saturday. Guests will need to stay overnight in Anchorage on Friday night and fly to Holy Cross, Alaska via charter on Saturday morning to begin the trip. Departures will be the following Saturday morning, allowing guests to depart Anchorage in the late evening or overnight one final evening before flying out the following morning.

Non-Angling Activities and Options
Midnight Sun is primarily a fishing-focused destination, so non-angling activities are very limited. Wildlife watching is a nice complement to the fishing, but this is not a trip for people who do not plan on fishing.

Internet / Communications
Internet access is not available during your stay and cell phones will not work during your visit.

How To Get There
Anglers will first fly to Anchorage International Airport (ANC), an easy-to-access airport that is serviced by dozens of domestic and international carriers. Your final destination is Holy Cross, Alaska which will be accessed via private charter arranged by Midnight Sun and Yellow Dog (additional cost paid prior to the trip).

Arrival and Departure Details / Times
Upon arrival in Anchorage, most anglers will opt to spend the night in the city before continuing on to Holy Cross the following morning. Midnight Sun arranges your charter flight from Anchorage to Holy Cross (not included in the package, payable in advance). That flight will depart Anchorage on the morning of your departure day. Upon arrival at Holy Cross, you will be met by a Midnight Sun representative and transferred to the Patriot.

Documents Required
Photo identification is required by airlines to purchase your Alaska Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased on the first day of your trip or online before your trip by visiting this website: Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

General Information
Midnight Sun may offer the finest trophy Alaska northern pike fishing in the world on more than 350 river miles in the Yukon Drainage. They are the ONLY operator throughout this fishery. Over the course of your week, you can expect to fish sloughs, lakes, channels, river mouths, and all types of bank structures. This is primarily a shallow-water fishery, and almost every take is visual, violent, and explosive. The pike throughout the area averages 30 to 40 inches. Over the course of a standard week, anglers can expect solid numbers, with anglers regularly landing pike over 40 inches. The number of pike found all throughout the region is unbelievable, and anglers can either focus on numbers or choose instead to hunt for large, trophy pike. Fishing techniques and equipment include a combination of large, sub-surface flies and large topwater poppers. Floating and intermediate fly lines are the norms throughout the season and 10-weight rods are recommended. Sheefish are also an option in the Yukon fishery, ranging in size from 12 to 20 pounds.

Boats and Equipment
Equipment includes customized shallow-water aluminum skiffs with 50HP engines and remote-controlled trolling motors. Each boat is spacious and clean, with huge casting platforms and plenty of space for gear and equipment. Midnight Sun also offers all leaders, tippet, flies, and a small selection of rods and reels if needed (plan to bring your own).

Package Rates
Remember that Yellow Dog’s services are completely free! When you book a trip with Yellow Dog, you never pay more than when you book directly with the lodge or outfitter. All prices listed below are per person.

2025 Rates: $6,650.00 per person based on double occupancy (Saturday – Saturday itinerary)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS
A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is due at the time of booking for all lodging and fishing packages, and final payment if due 90 days prior to arrival. For cancellations, all deposits and payments are non-refundable. In no event will the lodge or Yellow Dog be responsible for any cancellation of services or operations due to inclement weather, any event of force majeure, airline delays, flight cancellations, or any other reason beyond the control of the lodge. The lodge will not refund payments in the event of poor weather, or if arrival flights are cancelled or airline connections are missed. Additionally, the lodge and Yellow Dog are not responsible for alternative travel arrangements including flights, hotels, meals and any other expenses incurred. For all of these reasons, and because of the lodge’s no refund and no credit policy, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance and full coverage for your trip. If a cancelled package is resold by either the lodge or by Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, then a full refund will be issued minus a $100.00 per person cancellation fee charged by the lodge and a $100.00 per person fee charged by Yellow Dog. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages. Once again, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance these Alaska packages.

Payment Terms for All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings  
Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, for all trips less than 90 days out, full payment is required after receipt of the confirmation email to secure guides and reservations. For trips outside of 90 days, a 50% deposit is required upon receipt of confirmation email to confirm your reservations.
