Description

The Nautilus GTS is one of the most versatile reels Nautilus has ever produced. Designed to bridge the gap between freshwater and saltwater applications, the GTS combines lightweight construction, a fully sealed drag system, and exceptional line pickup in a package that feels equally at home on a trout river, a steelhead run, or a bonefish flat.

Built with technology derived from Nautilus' flagship GTX platform, the GTS features a dual-turn drag system that offers remarkable control across a wide range of settings. The first turn provides precise adjustments for lighter tippets and freshwater applications, while the second turn delivers the stopping power needed for larger fish and heavier leaders. Additional features include integrated backing markers, a redesigned spool release cap, and Nautilus' proven sealed drag architecture.

For anglers looking for a reel that can comfortably handle trout, bass, carp, steelhead, salmon, bonefish, redfish, and countless other species, the GTS stands out as one of the most capable crossover reels available today.

Features

  • Line-Class-Tuned Drag System. Drag behavior engineered specifically to the line weight, not a one-size-fits-all curve. Fully sealed and derived from the flagship GTX platform.
  • GTS Drag (5 to 8 weight). Dual-turn system. First turn 0 to 4 pounds for 5 to 6 weight finesse. Second turn 4 to 12 pounds for 7 to 8 weight power.
  • GTR Drag (8 to 11 weight). Single-turn system. Zero to 12 pounds in one full rotation. Reinforced spring and additional washer for added power.
  • Lightweight, Rigid Frame. Engineered for saltwater durability without the weight penalty.
  • Integrated Backing Markers. Machined directly into the spool. Fill your line to the exact yardage without measuring.
  • Giga Arbor Spool. Fast line pickup and faster drying.
  • 24mm Socket-Compatible Spool Cap. Standard 15/16 inch socket removes a stuck cap cleanly.
  • Easy RH to LH Conversion.
  • Machined in Miami. Built to last.

The GT drag system is derived directly from the GTX Pentadrag architecture and scaled to the demands of each GT model. Where most drag systems are built for maximum stopping power, the GT is engineered for feel and control—delivering a precise, responsive drag curve that lets you apply exactly the pressure you want at any point in the fight. GTS models are staged for finesse and lighter line classes. GTR models run a stronger spring for a broader power band when the fish get bigger.

FAQ

Who Is the Nautilus GTS For?
The Nautilus GTS is designed for anglers who split time between freshwater and saltwater and want one reel that can confidently handle both. It sits between the Nautilus X and the GTX, combining lightweight performance with a more powerful drag system and greater versatility.

This is an excellent reel for anglers targeting trout, bass, carp, steelhead, salmon, bonefish, redfish, and similar species on 5- through 8-weight rods. If your fishing regularly crosses environments and species, the GTS is one of the most versatile reels Nautilus has ever produced.

What Makes the Nautilus GTS Different from the Nautilus X?
The GTS is more of a crossover reel. While the Nautilus X leans heavily toward lightweight freshwater and light saltwater applications, the GTS incorporates technology derived from the flagship GTX platform and offers a broader drag range with more adjustment throughout the fight.

The GTS also replaces the long-running NV-G series and introduces several practical features, including integrated backing markers, expanded drag adjustment, and a redesigned spool release cap.

How Does the Nautilus GTS Compare to the Nautilus CCF-X2?
The GTS and CCF-X2 serve very different purposes. The CCF-X2 is built around maximum drag performance and targets species such as permit, tarpon, giant trevally, roosterfish, and other fish where extreme drag pressure becomes important.

The GTS is designed around versatility. It offers more drag than most anglers will ever need on a 5- through 8-weight rod, but it does so with a broader adjustment range and a lighter overall package.

What Are the Downsides of the Nautilus GTS?
The biggest downside is price.

The GTS sits well above some other freshwater reels for the market. Anglers looking for a dedicated trout reel can find plenty of excellent options for less money.

The other consideration is that many anglers simply do not need everything the GTS offers. If you fish exclusively for trout, there are lighter and less expensive reels that will perform just as well. Likewise, if your primary focus is saltwater species, you'd likely be better served by a CCF-X2 or GTX.

The GTS makes the most sense for anglers who genuinely move between multiple fisheries and want one reel that can comfortably handle all of them.
