Description
Orvis Battenkill Disc
The Battenkill disc fly reel, a proven legend of the Orvis reel family, is now ushered into the next decade. We didn’t touch the reliability and workhorse nature—those aspects are not for negotiation. Instead, the team worked to tighten tolerances for even smoother operation and updated key facets of the design like improved hand feel on the drag knob, a curved reelfoot that won’t kink leaders, and new, understated colors that complement the aesthetic of Superfine, Classic Bamboo, or even freshwater Helios® and Recon® rods. Includes the stout Hydros SL drag system, which incorporates six interacting carbon and stainless drag surfaces. Positive click drag is simple and easy to adjust. Each reel is built of 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum with an ergonomic Delrin handle, and changing from left to right hand retrieve is simple. Mid-arbor with a ported design that pays homage to Battenkill reels of old. A true modern classic. Imported.
Battenkill Disc II is 3" diameter for 3-5wt. rods, III is 3.25" for 5-7wt. and IV is 3.6" for 7-9wt.
If you are in need of any fly fishing gear this is a great store for you with knowledgeable personnel and great products.
There is something special about the sound of a click-drag paired with a medium-soft rod or fiberglass. I use the battenkill on my 7'6" 3wt that I use exclusively for "puddle jumping" or fishing in tight quarters where a traditional 9ft rod is too long. I have never had any issues with the drag, and hearing the reel sing as a big fish takes out line is always fun.
