Description
Peacock Swords are a unique feather material taken from the long, narrow “sword” feathers of a peacock tail, prized for their iridescent color and defined structure. Unlike peacock herl, these feathers feature longer, more rigid fibers with a natural taper, making them ideal for wings, tails, and extended body applications where shape and durability matter. The rich green, bronze, and gold hues shift in the light, adding a subtle but highly effective flash. They are commonly used in classic salmon flies as well as modern streamers and nymphs.
Best Uses:
- Wing cases or thoraxes on nymph patterns
- Wing structures on classic salmon and steelhead flies
- Accent feathers on streamers for added contrast
