A.W. I've been fishing the 250 grain for years for striped bass. I fish it on anywhere between an 8 to a 10 as I'm generally fishing pretty large flies, but I'd say the 9 is the sweet spot if you're going to be making a lot of casts. One or two false casts at most and I can hit the bank with a big streamer at 50 feet without much effort. Average water depth we are fishing is anywhere from a few feet to ten.
