2027 Gallo Grass Event

October 27, 26

May 2–6, 2027 | East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico

Join Yellow Dog for Gallo Grass, a four-night event combining guided fishing, live acoustic music, and time on the beach at Bahía de los Sueños on Baja’s East Cape.

With the entire property reserved for the group, guests can spend three days fishing for roosterfish and other saltwater species, relax on the beach, and enjoy intimate acoustic performances throughout the trip. Gallo Grass is designed with couples in mind, including anglers traveling with a partner who doesn’t fish.

The Music

The Gallo Grass lineup features Shawn Swain and Torrin Daniels of Kitchen Dwellers, Adam Greuel of Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Daniel Kimbro of the Jerry Douglas Band, and more. Guests will enjoy private acoustic performances throughout the trip in a relaxed setting on the Sea of Cortez.

The Fishing

Baja’s East Cape is best known for its roosterfish, but the fishing around Bahía de los Sueños offers much more. As the weather settles in May, baitfish draw roosterfish, jacks, dorado, wahoo, and more into the area. With deep water close to shore, anglers can encounter pelagic species surprisingly close to the beach.

Fishing starts just steps from the accommodations, where guests board pangas with their guides. Inshore, anglers search for roosterfish and other species cruising the coastline. Guides may use live bait or a teaser to bring fish within casting range, setting up opportunities that often call for a quick cast and a fast retrieve.

The East Cape also offers the chance to sight fish from the beach. Anglers walk the shoreline with their guide, watching for fish moving through the shallows. When a roosterfish appears, there’s often a short window to get into position and make the cast—a challenging and memorable way to pursue one of Baja’s most recognizable fish.

Gallo Grass includes three days of guided fishing, with two anglers per boat. There are 20 fishing spots available.

Beyond the Fishing

For non-anglers and anyone looking to spend time off the water, Bahía de los Sueños offers a beachfront setting with pools, swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Guests stay in luxury rooms, with meals, music, and time to enjoy the property throughout the trip.

All 19 rooms have a single king or queen bed, making the event a good fit for couples who both fish, as well as anglers traveling with a non-angling spouse or partner. You don’t have to fish to join in—music fans and anyone looking for a Baja vacation are welcome.
