Bahamas Lifted "Vacation-in-Place" Order for Tourists on November 1st

May 03, 23
On November 1st, The Bahamas extended their tourism offerings into their “fourth phase” for foreign travelers. As always, we want to ensure that Yellow Dog’s clients and anglers are well-informed and equipped with accurate information to make decisions with regard to planning and the Bahamian travel booking process. Here is what you need to know about the third and fourth phases of the reopening of the Bahamas to traveling anglers.

PHASE 4:
Who: Open to all Americans wishing to travel to the Bahamas.

What: The Bahamas will remove the “vacation-in-place” order, which will allow anglers to explore and move about the islands in which they’re traveling to.

When: November 1, 2020

MUST-READ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: If you wish to travel to the Bahamas in the near future (beginning on October 15, 2020), there are a few additional things you should be made aware of. Please note that these protocols are set in place to keep you and others safe and comfortable during your visit. These protocols are in order of steps and apply to both phases three and four mentioned above.
  1. You must obtain an RT-PCR (swab) test no more than five days prior to the date of your arrival.
    1. Children under the age of 10 are exempt.
    2. Be sure to have the name/address of the lab and where the test was performed clearly displayed on your test results.

  2. Once in possession of a negative RT-PCR (swab) test, you must apply for a Bahamas Health Travel Visa prior to your arrival in The Bahamas. This shouldn’t take you more than three-to-four minutes to complete. All you have to do is upload your test results and fill out some quick information.

  3. If you are staying longer than four nights and five days, you will be required to take one last rapid test. (If you depart on day five, you will not be required to take this test.)

  4. If you are staying longer than five days, many of our lodges will facilitate these tests for you.

  5. Beginning on November 14th, all visitors to The Bahamas will be required to obtain COVID-19 insurance. The cost for this insurance will be included in the travel health visa (link above) after said date.
Lastly, all islands in the Bahamas require the wearing of masks as well as appropriate social distancing while in public places. If you have additional concerns or questions, feel free to contact us here at Yellow Dog and we’ll be happy to assist you.
