Phil and Pam M. shared a trip together to No See Um Lodge and it was "everything they hoped it would be and more!" Read their full recap below:
"The accommodations were excellent -- our cabin was comfortable, clean, and nicely appointed with two big recliners offering a beautiful view of the river. We were greeted every morning by Americus with a quiet knock on the door, a smile, and a pot of coffee. And the amenities! Oh boy. A well stocked bar including beer taps, cocktail hour appetizers, a message chair, a hot tub, a sauna, a gazebo, a lawn, a corn hole tournament, etc. And the planes were immaculate.
The pilots, guides, servers, cook, cabin cleaners, dock hands, maintenance worker all couldn't have been more out going. John is basically operating a small town on the tundra! Yet, I like the camp's vibe of being a little less rigid than others I've visited. There's flexibility in mealtimes. And the fishing intinerary and fly outs are adjustable based on weather and preference. No See Um conveys competence and safety -- especially as it relates to the planes -- but they're not up tight.
Need less to say, it was a pleasure getting to know the No See Um crew over dinner and in the field. Pam and I left wanting to return. We had tough weather so we missed some of the sights and fishing that the camp otherwise offers. We asked Melissa before we left to hold two spots (or maybe three -- one for our son Sam) for us to return next year the same week.
In the meantime, Pam and I just wanted you to know how much we enjoyed the trip and that we appreciate Yellow Dog's "value adds" along the way. Your personal knowledge of the lodge, the packing lists, your response to our question on the type of gear to bring -- even little things like restaurant recommendations in Anchorage -- these all add up to make what would be a good trip a great trip. (BTW .. Cafe Paris makes an incredibly good steak !!)."
