- Providing an opportunity for residents in Xcalak, Mexico to further their English language skills with the second year of the Xcalak English Project.
- Continued support of a trio of projects in the Bahamas: the Bahamas Mangrove Initiative, Mangrove Cay Community Park and the East End Redevelopment of Mclean’s Town.
- Our partner, Mongolia River Outfitters, executed another successful Healthy Taimen Festival program earlier this fall, providing much needed healthcare screening and treatment to over 350 children in remote villages in Mongolia.
- Closer to home for us, after several years of continued decline in wild trout populations in SW Montana, we supported the creation of Save Wild Trout, a new private effort to get to the bottom of the issues facing the fisheries in the Jefferson Basin.
You can view all of our grants here. Our inaugural Fall Online Auction wrapped up just before Thanksgiving and was a great success due to your support. We raised over $30,000 for programming in the coming year and are incredibly grateful to all our auction sponsors and donors!
Lodge Partner Program
We also launched our revamped Lodge Partner Program this year, bringing more than 20 destination lodges on as partners with a financial commitment to YDCCF. These relationships are at the heart of what makes the YDCCF model work: engaged partners on the ground in the community sharing what their needs are and working together on finding solutions. Many of the successes listed above are due to relationships with Lodge Partners like The Xflats, Swain’s Cay Lodge, East End Lodge and Mongolia River Outfitters. You can see a list of all of our current Lodge Partners on the Yellow Dog Flyfishing website.
Year End Giving
As 2023 winds down, and you’re looking at your end of year options for charitable giving, we would be grateful for your support. YDCCF relies primarily on individual donors like you for most of our funding. You can use the link below to make a gift. If you’ve already given this season, thank you!
I've shared this before, but it bears repeating: the fly fishing community is among the most thoughtful and generous collections of people, businesses and groups that exists. We all believe in clean water, healthy air and making sure that the places we love to fish are protected and preserved for future generations. On a personal note, I'm humbled and honored to be able to funnel my passion for people and beautiful places into our work at YDCCF and grateful for each and every one of you that are a part of our collective community. We're incredibly excited for the new challenges and work ahead in 2024, and welcome you to come along with us!Â
Happy Holidays!Â
