Ideal Location to Explore The Best of Guatemala
On the front steps of Pacific Fins luxury resort, lie some of the best opportunities for outdoor adventure that the Guatemala coast has to offer. During a week with Pacific Fins, you may find yourself casting a fly to sailfish, yellowfin tuna, or mahi-mahi, exploring the Mayan ruins, or relaxing at the pool-side. Experienced anglers rate Guatemala the #1 sportfishing destination in the world because it is THE “hot spot” for large numbers of Pacific sailfish. No place in the world offers more raises, bites, and releases than in Guatemala. And when it comes to sailfishing – the experienced fleet at Pacific Fins averages an incredible 15 to 20 bites a day. At Pacific Fins, the guides, equipment, accommodations, and location are at their very best, and together, make this experience one to remember. Best of all, travel logistics here are easy, not requiring travelers to spend an extra night in the main city upon arrival, like in Costa Rica or Panama. This means that relaxation and adventure at Pacific Fins are only a chauffeured drive (complete with cold beverages) away.
Pacific Fins places a major focus on the quality of service offered by the English-speaking staff; the comfort and style of the Villas and Suites; the gourmet cuisine prepared by local Chefs; and the overall ambiance of the Resort.
Available to guests are four beautiful air-conditioned Villas offering two bedrooms with two queen beds, two bathrooms, and a very comfortable central lounge area featuring a flat-screen TV with SKY Satellite Service. Sliding glass doors open onto a sun deck overlooking beautifully landscaped tropical grounds, a pool, and the marina. For those requiring a little bit more privacy, Pacific Fins also offers two Suite rooms, each with queen beds and a bathroom.
Food and Beverages
Enjoy breakfasts by the pool consisting of fresh fruit, cereal, pancakes, eggs cooked to order, fresh roasted Guatemalan coffee, and freshly squeezed orange or pineapple juice.
After an exciting day on the water, there is no better place to share the stories of the day than in the bar. The bartender will prepare your favorite drink while you relax, be it at the beautiful pool or within the bar area. Drinks are all-inclusive, so do enjoy the rest of your afternoon!
For dinner, the restaurant offers a Gourmet A-la-Cart Menu prepared by local Chefs. Fresh seafood with local seasonings is a must, but should you care for a prime steak, the Chef can offer a great select cut. Appetizers, Entrees, and Desserts are all part of your dining experience. Oh, and feel free to ask for seconds if you so desire!
Typical Length of Stay

How To Get There
International flights into Guatemala City can be arranged from most major cities in the U.S. It is only a two-hour flight from Miami and two hours and 30 minutes from Houston. Many U.S. hubs offer non-stop flights. Most parties arrive the afternoon prior to their first day of fishing.
Once you arrive in Guatemala City, you will be met by a Pacific Fins chauffeur. You will then drive 60 miles south to Iztapa in the comfort of an air-conditioned van. Cold beer and sodas will be provided for your beautiful one-hour and 15-minute drive on a modern four-lane expressway. Along the way, you will see beautiful farms, forests, and active volcanoes (safely in the distance!).
Arrival and Departure Details / Times
Upon arrival in Guatemala City (GUA), guests will be transferred by private vehicle to the Resort, a trip that takes under 90 minutes. To accommodate early flight departures at the end of the trip, clients will typically spend their final night at the first-class hotel in Guatemala City. These are true five-star hotels located in the heart of Guatemala City’s most popular restaurant and nightlife district. Located ten minutes from the airport, these are among Guatemala’s finest hotels. When making your flight arrangement, we suggest not departing Guatemala City before 12:00 PM.
A valid passport is required for all visitors to Guatemala and must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the duration of your stay. Citizens of the U.S., the British Commonwealth, and Canada are NOT required to have Visas.
Minors Travelling To Guatemala Without Both Parents
If you are planning on traveling with minors, remember that all children 18 years of age or younger entering Guatemala accompanied by only one parent or legal guardian must have a NOTARIZED letter of consent from the other parent stating the child/children have his/her permission to enter the country. Single parents need a notarized documentation of divorce decree or death certificate of spouse. Minors unaccompanied by either parent require a NOTARIZED letter of consent signed by both parents. The Pacific coast of Guatemala features some of the world’s most consistently calm billfishing waters. Fishing in Guatemala normally takes place in an area called the “Pocket”, a deep underwater canyon that is 30 NM wide. Many days fishing will start just 12 to 15 miles offshore on the tip of the canyon. Other days, the guides may run as far as 40 miles if that’s what it takes to put you on the fish.
Pacific Fins is an excellent location for experienced and beginner fly anglers alike to pursue marlin with opportunities for dorado and tuna as well. While this type of fly fishing presents its own unique challenges, you will have a highly-experienced crew by your side to ensure a great time. During the day your crew will serve you a hot lunch, snacks, and fresh fruit. They will also prepare fresh Ceviche or Sashimi right in the galley. Of course, beer and soda will also be available. Combine this great fishery with the comfort and hospitality of the Resort and you have a recipe for an incredible fishing experience.
Boats and Equipment
Pacific Fins’ fleet features the newest, fastest, and most luxurious sportfishing yachts in Guatemala. Every boat is meticulously maintained for your comfort and safety. All boats are equipped with top of the line gear and tackle and the crews are the best in the world, with each boat featuring an experienced Captain and two excellent mates.
