Paradise For The Hardcore Permit Angler
Belize Permit Club offers all the key requirements for the hardcore permit angler and focuses heavily on making sure that each angler is on the water during ideal tides. Conveniently located just south of the small fishing village of Hopkins, permit fanatic Wil Flack has built a lodging and fishing operation to host anglers in the pursuit of saltwater’s holy grail species – the permit. Wil Flack and his team carry decades of knowledge onto the flats with the tools to find, target, and land permit throughout the fishery surrounding Hopkins, Belize. Our team has determined this area as one of the most productive in southern Belize for targeting tailing and feeding permit on the deck on the panga or wading. Rather than providing excessive luxury, the guides and staff focus their resources on spending maximum time on the water and providing comfortable lodging and home-cooked meals.

Lodging Details
Belize Permit Club sits on the banks of the Sittee River minutes from the Caribbean Sea. Guests stay in comfortable rooms capable of hosting up to six anglers at a time. Basic but comfortable, they feature A/C, two beds, a private bath, and a shower with plenty of space for your gear. Each day guests will load into the boats a stone’s throw from the lodge. From the location of the dock, rooms, bar area, barbeque, and horseshoe pit, the amenities are a testament to the fact that the lodge was built for one thing – providing anglers with a comfortable place to relax before another day on the water.
Food and Beverages
Meals are home-cooked and prepared in the main kitchen. Breakfast and lunch are usually taken on the boat each day, and dinner is served in the dining area or outside to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The menu is a combination of fresh seafood, and traditional Belizean cuisine including chicken, pork, rice and beans, fresh vegetables, and fantastic tortillas. Occasionally, guests can elect to go out to Hopkins for dinner.

General Information
For those wanting to focus specifically on permit on the fly, the waters of southern Belize are arguably the finest in saltwater fishing. While other species are found throughout the area, it should be understood that the fishing in the Hopkins area and the South Water Caye Marine Reserve is focused completely on permit. This means that as a stand-alone trip, this trip may not be for everyone – unless of course, you’re someone who really wants shots at permit on the fly! There are hundreds of prime permit flats in the area, many less than thirty minutes from the lodge. This is permit fishing in the traditional sense – you are looking for fish on the flats and tailing fish in skinny water.
Boats and Equipment
The Belize Permit Club fishes from extremely light, custom 23-foot pangas. These boats are ideal for poling the flats and running over open water. All the boats have poling platforms and are designed for fly fishing, with spacious casting decks and clean interiors. Belize Permit Club has loaner rods and reels available for guests that need them. However, we encourage anglers to bring their own gear that they know and are comfortable with. Flies, leaders, tippet, and other terminal tackle are provided if necessary.
