Experience a Yellow Dog favorite
Turneffe Flats has long been recognized as Belize’s premier saltwater fly fishing, scuba diving, and marine eco-tourism destination; and we are proud to have worked with them for two decades. Located on the beautiful Turneffe Atoll in the Caribbean, the resort specializes in superior flats fishing, diving, guided snorkeling, and other eco-tours for a limited number of guests. Their fishing and reef adventure programs create the ideal destination for anglers and their non-angling companions.
The social center for Turneffe Flats is the spacious, air-conditioned Main Lodge. Enjoy pre-dinner hors d’oeuvres and refreshments with new and old friends each night on the screened verandah. Amenities include a large deck area and a swimming pool, three choices for accommodations, all included in the package rate.

The Garden Villa
Set back from the beach with views of the garden and the Caribbean Sea, this three-bedroom villa also contains a large common area and private baths for each bedroom.
Meals at the lodge feature Belizean and American dishes served family-style in the large dining area, with fresh seafood, local produce, and home-baked pastries on the menu. Bonefishing is the mainstay of fishing Turneffe and the Atoll is home to the finest wadeable flats in Belize, only a short boat ride from the Lodge. Anglers can sight-fish large schools of tailing bonefish all day. There are also smaller schools of medium-sized bones and occasional large “cruisers” in the 5 pound-plus range. The bonefishing is consistently good throughout the year and offers something for anglers of all experience levels.
The Atoll is also home to an exceptional population of the elusive and difficult permit, making it one of a select group of saltwater destinations where you can experience the excitement of flats fishing for permit throughout the year, either from a skiff or while wading the ocean-side flats.
Finally, anglers can catch small, resident tarpon among creeks, channels, and lagoons of the Atoll throughout the year. June through August are generally the best months for tarpon fishing, as this is the season when most of the migratory fish in the 70 to 150-pound range pass through.
Boats and Equipment
Guides fish from 16-foot Dolphin super skiffs. The lodge offers top-of-the-line rental gear and equipment from Sage, Hatch Reels, Simms, and Patagonia, and sells a full range of flies, leaders, tippet, and fly lines in the well-stocked fly shop.
