Description
Ice Dubbing is a synthetic dubbing material made from finely shredded mylar fibers, giving it a unique sparkle and translucence that natural dubbings can’t match. Lightweight and easy to apply, it builds bodies, thoraxes, and collars that shimmer and pulse underwater. The reflective fibers can be used sparingly for subtle accents or layered heavily for high-visibility attractor patterns.
Best Uses:
- Nymph Thoraxes & Bodies: Adds a touch of flash to nymph patterns, helping them stand out in mixed currents.
- Blended Accents: Often mixed with natural dubbings like hare’s ear to add subtle sparkle and depth.
- Dry Flies: Perfect for creating attractor-style dry flies such as a purple haze parachute, or hot spots.
- Streamers and Baitfish: Can be stacked or incorporated into a dubbing loop for incorporating subtle hints of flash into streamer patterns such as sculpins, dubbed for the underbodies on streamers, or utilized to incorporate flash points on saltwater baitfish patterns.
- Steelhead & Salmon Flies: In bold colors, it makes intruders, swing flies, and veils more visible in low light or off-color water.
