Trip Overview
Outpost on the Nush, formerly “Egdorf’s Western Alaska,” is an on-the-spot camp that has been in continuous operation since 1982. This is a high-value, wilderness camp operation focused on fly fishing in a pristine, isolated wilderness setting. This riverside camp experience is enhanced by regular sightings of wildlife and great home water pools for more after-dinner angling opportunities well away from crowds and other lodges. Owner Dave Pishko and his team of guides know the waters of the Upper Nushagak extremely well and this is a program that caters to the angler looking for some of the most remote, untouched fishing opportunities in the interior wilderness of Alaska.

Lodging Details
Outpost on the Nush has all the essentials for a comfortable Alaskan fishing vacation, including a full kitchen and dining area, showers, burner toilets, and comfortable guest quarters. Sleeping arrangements are one guest per cabin, with mattresses on sleeping cots and electrical outlets. Linens are provided, along with pillows, washcloths, towels, etc.

Food and Beverages
All meals are cooked home-style. Throughout the week, dinner entrées include grilled steaks, chicken breasts, pork chops, prime rib, and fresh salmon. Breakfast includes all the usual meats, eggs to order, hot or cold cereals, and pancakes. A packed lunch on the river typically includes sandwiches, chips, treats, and a choice of drink. Hors d’oeuvres are served upon arrival to camp after the fishing day. Wine, beer, and a limited amount of liquors are included in your package. You may also choose to bring your favorite spirits with you for your week-long stay.

Typical Length of Stay
The standard fishing package is seven (7) nights / six (6) fishing days, arriving and departing from camp on Thursdays. Non-standard, customized packages are possible on a space-available status. Please contact Yellow Dog for details.

Non-Angling Activities and Options
Birdwatching, photography, and hiking activities are limitless. Berry picking is available and is exceptionally productive from early August through the end of the season. This is a very fishing-focused operation and most guests choose to fish each day of their trip.

Internet / Communications
The lodge has Starlink internet access that works 24/7, even when the generators are powered off. 

How To Get There
All anglers should plan on flying up to Anchorage’s Ted Stevens International Airport (ANC) the day before their trip begins to overnight for the first evening (Wednesday). On the day of your trip departure, anglers will charter with Iliamna Air Taxi from Anchorage to Iliamna via private charter on Thursday morning. The cost of the charter is not included in your package and can be arranged by calling Iliamna Air Taxi directly. After the week of fishing, anglers will charter back to Iliamna and Anchorage for the final evening or begin making their way back home on Thursday night.

Arrival and Departure Details / Times
From Anchorage (ANC), guests will travel to Iliamna Airport (ILI) with Iliamna Air Taxi to begin their trip. Once in Iliamna, you will charter privately via floatplane on the Upper Nushagak River. It is recommended that guests arrive in Anchorage on a Wednesday and overnight at a local hotel. Travel to and from camp via Iliamna will commence on Thursday mornings.

Documents Required
Photo identification is required by airlines to purchase your Alaska Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased on the first day of your trip or online before your trip by visiting this website: Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

General Information
The Nushagak River is home to all five species of Pacific salmon: Chinook, sockeye, chum, coho, and pink salmon. Combined with rainbow trout, Arctic grayling, and Dolly Varden, “prolific” is an understatement when describing this fishery. The term “fish factory” might be more fitting. Salmon migrate to the uppermost regions of the Nushagak to spawn and it just so happens that the camp is in the heart of the most prolific spawning area on the river. Four species of salmon annually spawn throughout July, August, and into part of September, providing a food base that supports very strong numbers of rainbow trout, grayling, and char. Collectively, this activity creates a fabulous destination for visiting anglers. This operation places you in the middle of the action, with some of the finest access and hardest-working guides in Southwest Alaska. The Upper Nushagak and area of the fishery where OON is located does receive incredible runs of salmon, but the big draw is the incredible opportunities for some of the most remote trout fishing in interior Alaska.

Boats and Equipment
Guests arrive via floatplane and the only way to access this area. Once there, you are transported via 18-foot aluminum jet boats to access different sections of the river each day. Guests should bring their fishing gear. However, all flies, tippet, and leader material are provided.

Remember that Yellow Dog’s services are completely free! When you book a trip with Yellow Dog, you never pay more than when you book directly with the lodge or outfitter. All prices listed below are per person and quoted in US dollars.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is due at the time of booking for all lodging and fishing packages, and final payment if due 90 days prior to arrival. For cancellations, all deposits and payments are non-refundable. In no event will the outfitter or Yellow Dog be responsible for any cancellation of services or operations due to inclement weather, any event of force majeure, airline delays or flight cancellations, or any other reason beyond the control of the outfitter. The operator will not refund payments in the event of poor weather, or if arrival flights are cancelled or airline connections are missed. Additionally, the operator and Yellow Dog are not responsible for alternative travel arrangements including flights, hotels, meals and any other expenses incurred. For all of these reasons, and because of Western Alaska Sportfishing’s no refund and no credit policy, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance and full coverage for your trip. If a cancelled package is resold by either the operator or by Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, then a full refund will be issued minus a $100.00 per person fee charged by Yellow Dog. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages. Once again, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance for these Alaska packages.

Payment Terms for All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings  
Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, for all trips less than 90 days out, full payment is required after receipt of the confirmation email to secure guides and reservations. For trips outside of 90 days, a 50% deposit is required upon receipt of confirmation email to confirm your reservations.
