• 32.5’ Head — The shortest GT-specific head available. 3.5 feet shorter than the RIO Elite GT. Loads fast-action 11 and 12-weight rods in one to two strokes for the fastest possible delivery to GT.
• Two-Stage Belly — Belly 1 and Belly 2 sections concentrate the full grain weight (495gr or 540gr) inside the 32.5-foot head zone. Short, aggressive front taper turns over large GT flies in wind.

What are the parts of a fly line and what does each section do?
A weight-forward fly line has five sections: Sighter: The Titan GT includes a short black sighter section at the very back of the line, near the backing connection. This provides a visual cue when the running line is nearly exhausted during a long cast or fish run. Running Line: The light blue section that shoots through guides during the forward cast. AST Plus integrated into the coating provides sustained slickness without re-application. Rear Taper: The transition from running line to belly. On the Titan GT, this is a brief transition — the line’s design prioritizes getting maximum weight outside the tip quickly, not a gradual rear taper for mending or carrying distance. Belly (Two Sections): The taper diagram shows two distinct belly sections — Belly 2 (rear belly) and Belly 1 (front belly). Together these form the 32.5-foot head, which is extremely short. This two-stage belly concentrates the line’s full grain weight (495 or 540gr) inside a 32.5-foot zone, producing a dense, heavy head that loads fast-action 11 and 12-weight rods in one to two strokes. How does the Titan GT compare to the RIO Elite GT?
Both are GT-specific lines with short heads and high grain weights, but with meaningful differences: Head length: Titan GT is 32.5 feet; RIO Elite GT is 36 feet. The Titan GT’s head is 3.5 feet shorter — the most compact GT head currently available from either manufacturer. This makes it even faster loading than the Elite GT, at the cost of further reducing versatility at longer distances. Weight range: Titan GT is 11 and 12 wt only (495gr and 540gr). RIO Elite GT is available in 10, 11, and 12 wt (425gr, 465gr, 510gr). The Titan GT does not offer a 10-weight option. Total length: Titan GT is 90 feet; RIO Elite GT is 100 feet. Coating: Titan GT uses AST Plus; RIO Elite GT uses SlickCast. Loop: RIO Elite GT has a Kevlar-reinforced welded loop; Titan GT uses a standard welded loop. AST Plus (Advanced Shooting Technology Plus) is SA’s slickness additive integrated into the line coating rather than applied as a surface treatment. Because it is part of the coating, it continuously migrates to the outer surface as the outer layer wears, maintaining shooting performance across the full life of the line. For a GT line that drags across a skiff deck repeatedly, contacts coral during fights, and is fished in high-heat, high-UV conditions, the durability of an integrated slickness additive versus a surface treatment is a meaningful practical difference over a week of hard fishing.
What flies work best with the Titan GT, and what leader setup is standard?
The Titan GT is designed for the large, heavy, air-resistant flies used for GT: big poppers (6–8 inches), brush flies, large baitfish patterns in 6/0-8/0 sizes. The short, aggressive front taper is specifically built to turn these patterns over at casting distances of 40–70 feet in wind without requiring multiple false casts. The standard GT leader is a short, level section of heavy hard mono — typically 3–6 feet of 80–130 lb hard mono connected directly to the welded loop. Most Seychelles and Farquhar guides use a 4–5 foot level section of 100–130 lb material (such as the Shilton Shock Leader) with no tapered section. The leader’s job is abrasion resistance and direct energy transfer for the hook set, not delicate presentation.
