We have set dates for this years’ Redbone - Ascension Bay Super Slam at Grand Slam Fishing Lodge for February 18 – 23, 2014. Everything is in place for this year's event, and we wanted to provide you with up-to-date information on the travel details, fishing and lodge information, and the Cystic Fibrosis tie-in. CYSTIC FIBROSIS | CATCH A CURE FOUNDATION We really appreciate all of the support for Cystic Fibrosis through the Catch-a-Cure foundation, the charitable cause for this fishing tournament. This event is a major fundraiser for cystic fibrosis at a critical time for CF patients and for the prevention of the disease. Research funding is greatly needed to reach major breakthroughs in research as well as for vital treatments. We are looking to surpass last year's donations for this year's event, so please help us reach this goal.
TOURNAMENT DETAILS AND RULES: http://www.redbone.org/rules.html This is a fly fishing only event. Like the Key West SLAM, anglers will be trying first and foremost to catch as many of the target species as possible over the three days. The species tiebreaker will be points. Each of the species is worth a certain number of points, with permit (obviously) being the most valuable. The minimum size for all species is 18 inches overall, and the maximum tippet is 20#. All teams will be given a tournament-measuring device - anglers will take a picture of their fish against the measuring device and release the fish to constitute a catch. Tarpon are the only exception - hand on leader constitutes a tournament legal catch. No photograph necessary. Please bring a digital camera as these will not be provided - your iPhone or similar device will suffice. There will be a slideshow each night at the Lodge, so take plenty of pictures. Ian Davis will be down loading these photos from you each evening, so please bring your camera to cocktail hour and dinner each evening!
On the first night of the event we will do a blind guide draw for each team and the three days of fishing. We are doing our best to ensure each team has an even level of ability for your guides over the three days. This is not an easy task with such a large field, but we can assure you that the utmost attention is being given to this aspect of the event. This is a competitive tournament, but please remember that we are all participating to raise money for cystic fibrosis, have a great time, meet new people, relax, and catch some fish in a beautiful setting!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

- Tuesday, Feb. 18: OPT. #1 ONLY: Overnight at Azul Sensatori (All Inclusive Beach Resort)
- Wednesday morning, Feb 19: OPT. #1 ONLY: Transfer from Sensatori to Grand Slam Lodge. Practice Day of fully guided flats fishing
- Wednesday night, Feb 19: OPT #2 ONLY: participants arrive at Grand Slam Lodge. Cocktail reception in the main lodge bar, swag bags handed out, welcome dinner, tournament rules and regulations, and Q & A about fishing program with Miguel and Ian.
- Thursday, Feb. 20: Breakfast at 7 AM. Fishing day is 8 AM to 4 PM. Please turn in your fishing results directly to Gary after fishing each day. Cocktails and dinner in the main lodge after fishing.
- Friday, Feb. 21: Breakfast at 7 AM. Fishing day is 8 AM to 4 PM. Cocktails and dinner in the main lodge. Head into Punta Allen after dinner to the Fisherman's Lodge for live music and drinks for those who want.
- Saturday, Feb 22: Breakfast at 7 AM. Group Photo in the morning at 7:45 AM at main lodge. Fishing day is 8 AM-4 PM. BBQ, cocktails and live music at Grand Slam Lodge after fishing. Dinner and awards ceremony.
- Sunday, Feb. 23: 7-8 AM breakfast. Transfers back to Cancun International Airport.
