2026 Limited Availability: The Himalayan Outback

October 29, 25

Our friends at The Himalayan Outback only have a select number of spots remaining for the 2026 season! If you have ever wanted to pursue one of fly fishing's holy grails in one of the most unique and memorable places in the world of fly fishing, this is your chance!

When:

  • April 9th to April 18th, 2026   - 4 RODS
  • April 18th to April 27th, 2026 - 2 RODS

About the Program:
Nicknamed the “tiger of the freshwater,” the Mahseer uses swift Himalayan currents and rapids to its full advantage. Hook one, and the fight is immediate and unforgiving. Fifteen to twenty minutes on the line is common, though some battles stretch past an hour. Bent hooks and broken rods are part of the story.

Over a week on the river, anglers can expect a few solid chances each day and, with some luck, land three or four fish. Most will be under ten pounds, but anything over twenty on fly is considered a true trophy.

The English author Rudyard Kipling once called the Mahseer a “rite of passage for every angler,” writing that “besides whom, the tarpon is but a herring.” It’s a fitting description for a fish that combines beauty, power, and patience-testing persistence.

Days on the river give way to quiet evenings at camp — simple comforts, good food, and conversation around the fire. The setting may be remote, but the experience feels complete: long casts, wild rivers, and the rare satisfaction of pursuing a fish that demands your full attention.

All of the anglers who embark on this week-long journey recount it being one of the most impactful and memorable fishing and outdoors experiences of their life.
