One of the things we love most at Yellow Dog is receiving trip reports from satisfied clients just having experienced a trip of a lifetime. Hudson M. and his family recently returned from El Pescador Lodge in Belize and Hudson even managed to land his first permit!
"My family and I booked a trip to El Pescador through Yellowdog for a winter vacation this January, and we could have not been happier with the experience. The food, lodging, and staff were stellar. My sister and mom relaxed and explored Ambergis Caye while my dad and I went fly fishing for four days.
Our guide Kechu was veteran and he put us on fish in high winds and heavy cloud cover throughout our trip. We spent the first two days catching plentiful bonefish on fly and chasing permit with multiple shots at fish without any hookups. Our third day we caught a break in the winds in the afternoon enabling Kechu to fish one of his favorite flats. This flat held a school of 30+ permit lazily milling at the surface.
After several fly changes I missed my first bite which put the school down for 20 minute. We then stalked them for 200 yards before they turned and gave us a second chance. I hooked my first permit on fly the next cast and after a 10 minute fight Kechu skillfully grabbed the fish. We got a few photos and then headed in for the day to enjoy a well earned beer after an amazing day on the water." Â
