“I have recently returned from a trip I hosted to Andros Island, Bahamas. This was my third trip there utilizing the services of Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures. Just like the previous two, the staff at Yellow Dog provided my group with a flawless, memorable trip.
The detail oriented work ethic of Yellow Dog truly shines on everyone of these adventures. They have every step of the travel, lodging, and fishing dialed in. As I've done on my previous two trips to Andros. My group and I spent time at two outstanding lodges, Mount Pleasant Lodge and Big Charlie's Lodge.
We began our adventure at Mount Pleasant Lodge, which sits off the road a ways on its own private little peninsula. Mount Pleasant offers very comfortable, clean accommodations, great food, and a lovely staff of kind, hard working people. They spare no expense at making you feel welcome and right at home.
The highlight of Mount Pleasant is the world-class "do it yourself" wade fishing offered right out your bungalow door. A seemingly endless supply of bonefish-filled flats surround the lodge. Within a short walk of Mount Pleasant you reach what might just be one of the most beautiful vast white sand flats I’ve ever fished called White Bight.
There is a staggering supply of bonefish that utilize this flat — on several occasions we were absolutely surrounded by large schools of bonefish pushing big wakes and tailing. I honestly can say I’ve never been around so many bonefish in one place like I have been while fishing White Bight.
A must-see for all bonefish enthusiasts. The second leg of our trip brought us to Cargill Creek and Big Charlie & Fathia's lodge for some guided boat fishing. Again, the accommodations here are excellent. Fathia's cuisine is top notch and left all in my party rubbing their bellies in pure delight every night.
Big Charlie is not only an amazing guide, but a wonderful entertainer as well. Nights at Big Charlie's are full of great conversation and tons of laughter. With a great staff of guides we all had amazing, memorable days of fishing in this bonefish paradise. Despite the tough weather we faced — wind, clouds, and rain — we all caught tons of fish.
To me, this is a true testament to the strength of the bonefish population on Andros. I can not thank Yellow Dog, Mount Pleasant, and Big Charlie & Fathia enough. All in my group are already beginning to talk and plan for this same trip again in 2017. Once again Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures has provided me and my crew an unforgettable trip.
