BIRTHDAY BONEFISH
Swain’s Cay Lodge on Mangrove Cay provided the perfect backdrop for a birthday bonefish trip for Yellow Dog clients Tony and Shelly. Here’s what the couple had to say of their trip to the Bahamas: “It’s been a couple of months since our trip to Andros but I think about it every day.
Yellow Dog is awesome at getting everything worked out from what to expect from the fishing to gear lists to places to see and things to do while you’re there. We decided on Swain’s Cay Lodge after looking through several options. It was my 60th birthday and I wanted to do something special.
Bonefishing the flats has always been a dream of mine. Shelly fishes but not as much as I do, so we wanted a place that she could enjoy if she wasn’t out with me. As it turned out she fished 3 of the 3 ½ days we booked!
Swain’s Cay Lodge is a nice, quaint place and the people are awesome. The food was excellent and the other guests were a blast to get to know. We met folks from all over, some of whom have been coming to Swain’s every year since it opened. Our guide, Dencil, could not have been a better choice for us. He knows his stuff and was so patient.
I’ve fished forever but this is different than casting for trout. I missed more than I hit when I got my shots, but there are so many bonefish that we still landed over a dozen given the wind and my nervousness.
We fished from the skiff, but waded at-least half the time. The flats on the middle bight are perfect for us. There’s no question that we’ll book another trip to Swain’s. Thanks again.”
