Mark D. and company had nothing short of a trip of a lifetime while spending a week in Bolivia at Secure Lodge. Reach Mark's reflections on the trip below:
"We wanted to drop you all a quick note to let you know we had an amazing week at the Secure Lodge. Truly a one of a kind, unique experience in every respect. The fishing, food, staff and setting was exceptional.
We were so lucky with the weather -- 6 days of sunshine, perfect temps and not a drop of rain. Between the four of us we landed tons of dorado, and lost many more! Rich Torykian was the high hook on the trip, landing an estimated 15lb dorado just several hours into fishing on Day 1. Clayton nearly topped him on day 6 with a massive dorado, but alas it was not meant to be as the fish never made it to shore.
Fernando, Ana, Willy and the entire staff were warm and welcoming and made sure we were always well taken care of and comfortable, a professional operation across the board. Fernando is a real character by the way. We loved how he mixed in some Spanish phrases while speaking to us (“Que bueno”, “claro que sí”). And we would be remiss not to mention Fernando's expert wine pouring abilities, never hesitating to top off a glass of outstanding Argentine Malbec.
The guides, Santiago, Milton and Valentino, were outstanding — patient, knowledgeable and accommodating. Their knowledge of the river, passion for fly fishing and willingness to teach, even with their young ages, made them some of the top guides we have fished with in any location around the world.
And we cannot forget about Zoltan. That guy is a superstar. He bent over backwards to help us track down missing bags, book dinner reservations, help with tour suggestions, anything we asked of him.
Jack, we are very grateful for the tremendous effort you put in to answer all of our questions ahead of this trip. Your time, attention to detail and timely responses, even when you were traveling, set a new standard for customer service and made the experience that much more memorable. thank you also to the entire Yellow Dog staff for all of the trip planning and advice. the value added working with you was hard to measure."
