ESTANCIA LAGUNA VERDE RA-CAPS THE 2014 SEASON AT JURASSIC LAKE IN ARGENTINA

The 2013-2014 season at Estancia Laguna Verde has come to a close, and already we’re looking ahead to a great 2015 season! As part of E.L.V.’s quest to improve every single aspect of the Jurassic Lake fishing experience, they’ve recently implemented several changes to their programs and they’ve continued to improve the overall infrastructure and offerings of the lodge.

Guests can now expect more access to new fishing areas, improved fishing programs, new trucks, a wider variety of wines carefully selected at Mendoza, tasty shore lunches every day cooked by the guides, new rooms at the lodge, an improved kitchen and an expanded lodge menu. To re-cap the 2013-2014 season, November and December delivered fantastic fishing on E.L.V.’s private Barrancoso River, which delivered great conditions throughout the early season and well into early January.

A season´s best “river fish” of an amazing 21 pounds was landed during mid-November. The early season also gave guests the chance to fish the unknown Moro Creek when it was at its best, with excellent fishing into December. The summer season on the big lake (Strobel – A.K.A. Jurassic) delivered great chances to sight fish for big fish, and plenty of great dry fly action, with the sizes of fish landed increasing as the season progressed.

The warm months delivered plenty remarkable days of mousing and skating big dries for monster trout. March and April showed the biggest catches of the season, and in early April, the Barrancoso River experienced its annual autumn run, delivering excellent river fishing until the very end of the season.

Among the stats for last season, a total of 24 fish OVER 20 pounds were landed by E.L.V. guests. or over. This season’s biggest fish was a 24 pound “pig”, caught by a client from Argentina, with several fish coming close, reaching 22 and 23 pounds. There was also a major increase in the number of fish landed that were over 15 pounds. All in all, it was a spectacular fishing season, and it is apparent that the monster trout in Lake Strobel (Jurassic) are only getting bigger!

With copious snowfalls being forecasted for the coming winter, the 2014-2015 fishing season is looking extremely promising! Many more upgrades are already in progress, including new and better roads, more accessible paths to new beats on the Barrancoso River and Moro creek, and great fishing possibilities at smaller lakes on the Estancia that have not been fished until recently. Now is the time to book your 2014-2015 trip to Estancia Laguna Verde and Jurassic Lake. Contact Yellow Dog’s John Hudgens for more information!
