March 2024: El Pescador Client Trip Recap

April 05, 24

ļ»æTim M. returned from a fantastic trip to El Pescador Lodge & Villas on Belize's Ambergris Caye -- Read his comments below!

Did you find the trip booking process through Yellow Dog enjoyable and useful? If not, please share why.
-Ā Yes...it was great!

Do you have any comments or constructive feedback based on the overall lodging (rooms, dining area, social area, etc)?
-Ā It would be difficult to improve on the experience at El Pescador. Everything was top notch!

Do you have any comments or constructive feedback based on the service, friendliness, etc of the lodge staff?
-Ā Staff was superb! They really do treat you like family.

Did the food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) match what you were expecting? If not, please provide additional comments or constructive feedback.

- Food was awesome...a BBQ fish dinner on the beach would be a nice touch though!

Were you pleased with your guide(s) customer service, communication skills, professionalism, work ethic, and general fishing knowledge? If not, please share why.
-Ā Our guide was Jeo. He was fantastic. Instructive, humorous, patient and knowledgeable. Found fish and worked hard for us every day. When we go back next year (yes, we are planning the return trip now) we will request Jeo.

What key pieces of gear or flies made your trip successful?
-Ā I packed an 8 and 9wt for the trip but the Helios rods were superior to my gear and the reels were top notch Orvis and Hatch so we used mostly the lodge gear. Which was excellent. I would definitely up the fly selection and amount as we lost most of the CIS we brought to Barracuda! the tarpon flies we bought there worked great, but we bought the last two. You need more flies!

What piece(s) of equipment would not leave home without for this trip , or your next, with Yellow Dog?
-Ā I'm glad I had plenty of light, long sleeve shirts with hoods for sun protection. A pair of light wading pants is a good idea too. And good wading shoes. We had Orvis wading shoe with neoprene socks...They worked great!

Would you return to this lodge destination? Please share why or why not.
-Ā 100% - planning next year's trip!

How would you briefly summarize your overall trip experience?
- Wow! What a great experience! The service, accommodations and staff were amazing. Our guide was Jeo. I could not have had a better match. He was fantastic! Great teacher, fisherman and I can say now, friend! He got us on fish everyday. I hooked a Tarpon on my first cast ever to them! Didn't land that one but I hooked and landed two more the same day! We caught lots of bones including some really big ones 5 to 6 pounds! I have to say that maybe the best part was the other fishermen and women who were staying there. We made new friends and talked fishing stories and mis-adventures every night at dinner and in the bar. It was a 10 out of 10! We will be making return reservations with you soon.
