A frequent Yellow Dog traveler, Mike R. has fished all over and spent tons of time in Belize. He recently visited Belize River Lodge for the first time and had an amazing experience. Read his thoughts below:
"Thanks for your help with the trip! I’ve fished all up and down Belize for many years with the exception of Punta Gorda, knowing BLR was there I just bypassed it trying to escape Belize city as quickly as possible. I was very impressed with the owners Mike and Margarette incredible folks that have lived very interesting lives. The food was fantastic and the accommodations very comfortable. The Lodge is SO easy to get to and from which makes it ideal for a quick trip. I wondered about air traffic noise but it seemed non existent. I was equally impressed with the fishery…plenty of bonefish, tarpon, and snook. Did not see many permit but did cast to some very small guys.

There was 2 days I saw a super slam on the water. I like the “lodges rules” (tarpon, bonefish, snook, permit) catch any three and it’s a Grand Slam. I got two for the week one in October and one in November. There were 2 snook looking 40” followed nose to the fly right to the boat with no eat…heart breaking but cool to see. This close to the city I was surprised to see so many fish…not a great fan of river fishing but it was a good bonus waiting for tides or cloudy windy days. I’ll definitely consider this lodge again for a quick trip."
