Did you find the trip booking process through Yellow Dog enjoyable and useful? If not, please share why.
- Yes. Top notch with unique and appreciative follow up. Matt Kelsic placed a call to us personally before the trip. Nice touch!
Were the Yellow Dog pre-trip planning packet(s) and travel itinerary you received for your trip helpful and accurate? If not, how could it be improved?
- Yes. They are terrific.
Did the lodging (rooms, dining area, social area, etc) match what you were expecting? If not, please provide additional comments or constructive feedback.
- El Pescador is a 5 star lodge
Did the food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) match what you were expecting? If not, please provide additional comments or constructive feedback.
- Food is excellent
Do you have any comments or constructive feedback based on the service, friendliness, etc of the lodge staff?
- Staff is "family". After fishing in many spots around the world - El Pescador is the best. Great diversity of species, the lodge is terrific, food is great, community around the lodge is fun, staff are "family", fishing guides are the best anyone will find, etc.
Were you pleased with your guide(s) customer service, communication skills, professionalism, work ethic, and general fishing knowledge? If not, please share why.
- I'm reluctant to even mention how much I enjoy the specific guides at El Pescador - as this may lead to them being unavailable for my next trip! Ha! That is a joke, but truthfully - El Pescador guides are the best I've encountered.
What key piece(s) of gear, tackle, flies, soft goods, etc. made your trip successful?
- I have my own gear, but for anglers who do not, the Orvis products provided at the lodge are very high quality and the fly selection at the lodge is all anyone would need to catch - tarpon, permit, bone, snook, etc.
What piece(s) of equipment would you not leave home without for this trip?
- Tarpon rod and reel: 11wt. with Silver King sized reel. Too many chances for big tarpon in Belize not to be prepared. This size is good for the fight and safe for the tarpon.
Would you return to this destination? Please share why or why not.
- Heading back for trip 5 in April. Obv. we like the place!
About the Lodge: El Pescador Lodge, in business for over 40 years, is one of the best-run, most famous fly fishing lodges in all of Central America. Situated only 15 minutes by light aircraft from Belize City on the island of Ambergris Caye, the lodge offers world-class sight fishing for The Big Three: tarpon, permit, and bonefish. El Pescador Lodge was one of the original properties that we worked with, and it remains one of our all-time favorite destinations.
