The Dr. Slick Rotary Hackle Plier is an upgraded version of standard hackle pliers that adds a key feature: rotation. Instead of just clamping a feather and wrapping it manually, the rotary function allows the pliers to spin as you wrap, keeping the hackle aligned and reducing twisting or breakage. This is especially helpful when tying more technical patterns like parachute dries, where clean, even wraps are critical.
Non-rotary is best for simple application of hackles to flies. Use rotary when working with parachute flies. A half hitch tool is built into the handle of the 4” pliers.
