The Fishpond Firehole Backpack is my go-to pack for full day fishing adventures. It is large enough to fit all of my fishing gear as well as a full lunch. It even has a spot for a CamelBak style water pouch! The features on this bag are seemingly endless. For example, it has an exterior pouch that is made for storing wet waders and boots after a day on the water and a long walk back to the truck. One issue with packs similar to this one was the net storage. Other packs have the tendency to make your net smack you in the back of your legs while walking and/or act as a perfect snag for your fly line while casting. But this pack has your net perfectly positioned on either side of you (depending on if you right or left handed). Keeping things tidy and hassle free.
Because this is a backpack, all of our gear is behind you, that is why I choose to clip on the fishpond chest pack and put all of my regularly used gear in that and put all of my lesser used gear in the backpack. The great thing about fishpond is that you can customize your packs with attachments that work best for you with their great clip system. It is about as close to a perfect system as you can find. Overall, I would recommend this pack to anyone who likes to fish full days on the water and cover some serious ground!
