Frenchie Chironomid

"Pheasant tail fibers are one of those natural materials that seem to have magic fish attractant built in. That’s why Pheasant Tail Nymphs and Frenchies catch fish everywhere.

The Chironomid Frenchie came about when I, and several of my fishing friends started catching fish in lakes on standard Frenchies.

I then added gills, removed the tail, and changed the Frenchie’s gold bead for a more air bubble imitating silver bead. The result is the most effective chironomid pattern I’ve fished.

This is my absolute go-to when fish are eating chironomids. The tungsten bead makes it perfect for use with a midge tip type line or under an indicator. It’s also deadly fished static below a dry fly."
