Description
Veevus GSP Thread (Gel Spun Polyethylene) is an ultra-strong, super-thin tying thread designed for the most demanding fly patterns. GSP is many times stronger than standard polyester or nylon threads of the same diameter, allowing tiers to apply maximum pressure without risk of breakage. Naturally slick, it slides smoothly through materials yet bites well when finished with proper thread wraps or knots. For large, bulky, or material-heavy flies, Veevus GSP is unmatched in strength and reliability.
Best Uses:
- Spinning & Stacking Deer Hair: The go-to thread for bass bugs, bombers, and other deer hair flies where extreme thread tension is required.
- Large Streamers: Perfect for predator flies, articulated patterns, and other streamers that call for lots of material secured tightly.
- Saltwater Flies: Provides strength and holding power for tarpon, GT, and other big-game flies built with synthetics and natural fibers.
- Heavy-Duty Applications: Excellent for binding slippery materials like synthetics, rabbit strips, or bucktail without cutting through fibers.
- Specialty Patterns: Works well for oversized terrestrials or intruder-style flies that require extra thread torque.
Veevus GSP Thread Size Guide
- 30 Denier: Ultra-fine but incredibly strong; ideal for smaller flies where you want maximum strength without bulk.
- 50 Denier: Versatile size for standard trout streamers, intruders, and medium deer hair work.
- 100 Denier: The most popular all-around GSP size; excellent for spinning deer hair, larger streamers, and saltwater flies.
- 200 Denier: Heavy-duty thread for the largest patterns—bass bugs, musky flies, and bluewater flies where maximum thread strength is required.
