Contacted Jake at Yellow Dog and asked for his advice for the best outing fishing multiple venues, and his response was, “If I were going to take a fishing trip to Montana, I would go on the Montana Road Trip.” This involved staying in camper trailers that moved every day to a new picturesque location and fishing on a new river. The crew moved the campers for us, set up camp including cocktails, appetizers and a great dinner. The camp crew and guides were amazing and fun to be around. “I, along with five friends, recently did the Montana Road Trip planned by Yellow Dog. We fished many different streams, rivers, and lakes. Our guides were not only terrific in locating big fish and lots of them, but they were so knowledgeable about the history and landscape of Montana. They were also conscientious about the health of the fish and protection of the water— they revived the fish and regularly picked up trash from the water. The food was beyond great. The chef prepared three phenomenal meals each day. Our only complaint was that he fed us too well. Our overeating at dinner allowed us to go to bed early. About the Montana Road Trip: The Montana Road Trip was designed so that anglers never fish the same water twice while also not sleeping in the same location twice either. In addition to experiencing a variety of different rivers throughout our home state, anglers will also be treated to well run camps with outstanding food, drink, and company. What else could you ask for on a fishing trip!
The great thing about being mobile is that itineraries and locations can be customized based on guests’ interests. Some itineraries focus heavily on wade fishing, while others on floating, and others on a variety of fishing styles. And because of this mobility, fishable locations can always be found regardless of the time of year.
Typically, on the first day of fishing, guides will pick up guests at their hotel and head to the river. Then after fishing, guests will be driven to the first night’s camp location in time for appetizers and dinner. Not all guests will go to the same fishery each day. Most often than not, guests will split up each day to go fish different fishery in the area. After the final day of fishing, the guides will drop off guests at their hotel in their departure city before flying out the next day.
