Did you find the trip booking process through Yellow Dog enjoyable and useful? If not, please share why.
- It worked out well. Tom Melvin and I discussed several options for trips and came up with a great destination.
Was the Yellow Dog pre-trip planning packet(s) and travel itinerary you received for your trip helpful and accurate? If not, how could it be improved?
- It was very useful and helpful. I was able to make flights on your recommendations that worked out well. We knew what to expect as far as gear needed which proved to be spot on. I was also able to purchase waders and boots for a difficult to fit grandson. You answered my questions promptly and accurately. It was a great experience to deal with such a professional crew.
Do you have any comments or constructive feedback based on the overall lodging (rooms, dining area, social area, etc)?
- The lodge is wonderful. There rooms were nice and had beautiful views of the ocean. There was comfortable seating in all the rooms for everyone.
Do you have any comments or constructive feedback based on the service, friendliness, etc of the lodge staff?
- Rick, Dory and Jake were absolutly great. My grandsons were able to learn a lot with there help about ocean fishing, clamming and pot setting. Their patience allowed them to learn with out to many borders. We were able to be involved in all parts of the catching to the table including helping with dinners.
Did the food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) match what you were expecting? If not, please provide additional comments or constructive feedback.
- Rick is a great chef. The food was really great. We could all watch and learn from the cooking.
Were you pleased with your guide(s) customer service, communication skills, professionalism, work ethic, and general fishing knowledge? If not, please share why.
- Having been around the world hunting and fishing for 30 years this was one of the best crews I have ever had. All of the things above, they were first rate.
What key pieces of gear or flies made your trip successful?
- Having quality rain gear, waders and muck boots were the keys to a great and enjoyable trip. You can't enjoy Alaska without those 3 things.
What piece(s) of equipment would not leave home without for this trip , or your next, with Yellow Dog?
- Quality waders
Would you return to this lodge destination? Please share why or why not.
- I would return anytime
How would you briefly summarize your overall trip experience?
- The trip was to allow my 3 grandsons to enjoy a trip without parents as they all had just graduated high school. We dove right into helping with all aspects of the trip. At the end they could set downriggers, fly fish with some profeciency, and process the fish we caught. I wanted them to learn on their own and not just be waited on. I couldn't be more pleased with our week in Alaska. It was perfect.
This is one of the most unique programs at Yellow Dog, combining fishing different area waterways for a host of species and foraging surrounding forests. After your day of fishing, and foraging, you are able to prepare your dinner with your day’s catch. To learn more, Contact Yellow Dog!
