We are excited to add some new destinations to our U.S. Rockies program! There is something here for everyone, and we are eager to share a couple of truly unique programs that allow anglers to go mobile or camp near their fishing runs. These programs utilize campers and campsites to access great fishing throughout Montana and into Wyoming and Idaho, ensuring you experience as much as possible during your visit!
Boulder River Outpost
The Boulder River Outpost is located up the Boulder River Drainage outside of Big Timber, Montana. This is an off-the-grid fishing trip with a ton of water on offer. For most groups, they rotate anglers on the Boulder River, Yellowstone River, Stillwater River, and private / public walk and wade options throughout the nearby areas. Some of these fisheries are less than 5 minutes away, while others are a 10 – 60 minute drive before fishing.
The Outpost is a great fit for folks who want a small exclusive venue that offers a rich variety of fishing venues – big float rivers, smaller raft rivers, wade fishing, spring creeks, etc.
Montana River Camp Trip
What better way to experience “Big Sky Country,” than camping under the stars on some of Montana’s famous trout rivers with a Montana River Camp Trip. Everything will be taken care of for you – meals, camping equipment, fishing gear, etc so that you can just sit back and enjoy the ride. This trip is great for both beginner and expert anglers alike and an excellent way to soak up the most of Montana in a short time.
Most trips are 3 days of fishing and 2 nights of camping. However, based on availability and the number of anglers in your group, itineraries can be customized for trips as short or as long as you please. However, 4-5 days is typically the max.
Most trips are on the Madison River or Yellowstone River. Although sometimes camps can be on the Missouri River and a few other rivers in Southwest Montana. On rivers like the Yellowstone, the camps are floated into islands or undeveloped sections of the river. On the Madison and Missouri, camps are driven in and set up while guests float into camp.
The Meadows On Rock Creek
Located only 25 minutes from the historic mining town of Philipsburg, The Meadows on Rock Creek combines modern accommodations, culinary experiences, and unique angling and non-angling opportunities, with hospitality and service to create unforgettable memories in an iconic Montana setting. While anglers are privileged to private, non-pressured walk & wade rivers and creeks throughout the area, non-anglers can treat themselves to the lodge’s amenities and activities.
+ Waypoints Podcast: Planning the Perfect Trip to Montana
This is a dry fly paradise! Here, anglers can expect encounters with cutthroat, cut bow, brown, and brook trout, each offering a challenge that's as exhilarating as it is rewarding. Rock Creek's meandering 52 mile course allows for a diverse fishing experience, from wading the gentle shallows to floating along its scenic banks, though floats are only available in the month of June. Surrounded by lush foliage, enveloped by rolling meadows and the ruggedness of Western Montana's mountains, Rock Creek isn't just a fishing destination; it's an immersive experience in the heart of the great outdoors.
Montana Road Trip
What better way to do a fishing trip than to fish new water each day and enjoy an all-inclusive road trip that will take you across Montana and surrounding areas such as Yellowstone National Park and northern Wyoming! The Montana Road Trip was designed so that anglers never fish the same water twice while also not sleeping in the same location twice either. In addition to experiencing a variety of different rivers throughout our home state, anglers will also be treated to well run camps with outstanding food, drink, and company. What else could you ask for on a fishing trip!
The great thing about being mobile is that itineraries and locations can be customized based on guests’ interests. Some itineraries focus heavily on wade fishing, while others on floating, and others on a variety of fishing styles. And because of this mobility, fishable locations can always be found regardless of the time of year.
