The Perfect Option For a Quick Alaska Fishing Getaway
Located on the banks of the Yentna River and the confluence of Lake Creek – approximately 70 air miles northwest of Anchorage – sits beautiful Riversong Lodge. Accessible by floatplane only, Riversong is one of our favorite destinations for a quick one or two day trip to a remote area of Alaska that not only offers great fishing, but an overall experience that will leave even the most seasoned travelers and anglers satisfied. If you have only a few days in Anchorage, or if you would like to add on a few more days to a longer Bristol Bay package, then a trip to Riversong is the perfect option. While staying at Riversong Lodge, guests will not only be able to experience the beautiful amenities of the hand-built spruce lodge and the incredible cuisine, but also fish the larger Yetna River and the most intimate Lake Creek – a tributary in the Alaska Range that has become world famous for its rainbow trout and salmon fishing opportunities.
Hand-built from native white spruce logs, Riversong Lodge features probably one of the most beautiful grounds and settings of any lodge in Alaska. Refurbished from the ground-up in Summer 2014, Riversong has taken every step necessary to make your stay as “comfortably rustic” as possible. The Main Lodge and dining area feature a common area with leather couches and chairs for relaxing and discussing your day on the water, a well-appointed dining area, fly tying room, and a full bar with an outside patio to enjoy your favorite beverage each evening riverside. Each private guest cabin features all bedding, private bathrooms and showers, covered porch and gathering area for after-hours stories by the lantern light.
Food and Beverages
Riversong Lodge has always prided itself on the unique culinary and dining experiences that they offer each and every guest, and anglers will not leave the Lodge hungry! Each morning, breakfast is cooked-to-order including omelets, local meats, and game sausages, fresh fruits, juices and bottomless mugs of coffee and hot chocolate. Lunch is served mid-day, either back at the Lodge or on the river, consisting of a variety of sandwiches, wraps, soups, and snacks to keep you going and on the water! Dinner each evening is the highlight of the night, with hand-picked chefs taking great pride in the dishes and menu each day. Meals each evening consist of local fresh seafood and salmon, generous cuts of meats, fresh bread, vegetables and desserts that will not leave you disappointed! Riversong Lodge is not a destination that you will leave lighter than the day you arrived!
Typical Length of Stay
One of our favorite aspects of Riversong Lodge is their ability to accommodate any length of stay, from multiple overnight stays to single guided day trips! With their close proximately to Anchorage and relationships with the best bush pilots in the area, anglers can arrive and depart Riversong any day of the week for a completely customizable package.
Non-Angling Activities and Options
Besides just a great fishing program, Riversong also offers numerous options for non-angling activities including hiking, flight-seeing tours of the surrounding area and Denali National Park, river excursions, wildlife viewing and more. Non-anglers will often take time to relax around the beautiful lodge grounds to take in the scenery and enjoy the atmosphere.

Internet access is available at the Lodge. Cell phones will not work during your visit.

Arrival and Departure Details / Times
Upon booking, Yellow Dog and Riversong will arrange a charter flight between Anchorage and the Lodge (the cost of which is included in your package). Anglers can arrive and depart on any day of the week, and stay as many nights as they choose based on current availability.
Photo identification is required by airlines and to purchase your Alaska Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased on the first day of your trip, or online prior to your trip, by visiting this website: Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
Yellow Dog works directly with and recommends Kanna Travel. They can assist with airline tickets, hotels, transfers and all travel logistics for every destination that we offer. Located directly on the banks of the Yentna River, Riversong Lodge has direct access to some of the best Pacific salmon sport-fishing opportunities near the Anchorage area. Depending on the week, both fly and conventional anglers can enjoy targeting all five species of Pacific Salmon, including kings, sockeyes, pinks, chums and silvers.
The standout for the Riversong Lodge fishing program is the Lake Creek tributary that feeds into the Yetna, a stream that Riversong calls their home water and prides themselves on their knowledge of the watershed and effective techniques. While Lake Creek also receives all five runs of Pacific salmon, its specialty is the large resident rainbow trout, arctic char, Dolly Varden and grayling fishing it offers each season. Relatively small in width and flow, Lake Creek is the perfect stream for wade anglers looking for an intimate experience fishing for the trout and salmon opportunities that Alaska has become famous for. The scenery of the tributary is also spectacular, with gorgeous landscapes of Denali and the Alaska range, high-banked fern forests and wildlife viewing opportunities available each day on the water. Lake Creek has also become known for its sheer volume of fish species available, making it the perfect river for both experienced and novice anglers alike.
Boats and Equipment
Riversong Lodge utilizes 18-foot, shallow draft aluminum boats outfitted with jet driven engines, along with larger custom-built jet boats specifically designed for the Lake Creek fishery. Because you don’t have to fly out each day to experience great fishing, your angling hours will not be affected by poor weather conditions or low visibility. Riversong Lodge can also outfit each angler and guest with any rods, reels, lines, flies, terminal tackle or hip waders they might need. It is recommended each angler bring their own chest waders and non-felt wading boots for their stay.
Remember that Yellow Dog’s services are completely free! When you book a trip with Yellow Dog, you never pay more than when you book directly with the lodge or outfitter. All prices listed below are per person, based on double occupancy, and quoted in U.S. dollars.
