Fly Fishing The Famous Iliamna Region
Intricate Bay Lodge is a full service, high-end fishing lodge located on the banks of the world-renowned Iliamna Lake in the heart of the Bristol Bay region of Alaska. Taking a maximum of only ten guests per week, this program was designed to provide an intimate experience in one of the most productive fishing areas in the entire state. Recently rebuilt and fully renovated in 2014, the beautiful lodge is ideally located for incredible home-water fishing on the Copper and Gibraltar rivers. The lodge is also a quick floatplane flight away from some of the most renowned and fabled fisheries in the entire Bristol Bay Region. The entire team at Intricate Bay Lodge takes great pride in accommodating all guests, whether it is your first time to Alaska or your tenth. Simply put, a week at Intricate Bay is designed to cater well to everyone and show all guests an incredible Alaskan experience.
Located on the banks of Iliamna Lake, Intricate Bay Lodge was recently rebuilt from the ground up in 2014 with no attention to detail going to the wayside. The lodge itself is beautiful, well-appointed and a great place to stay for your week of fishing in the Alaskan wilderness. The main lodge features a large dining and relaxing area, stone fireplace, full bar, wader and mud room and expansive patios that overlook the lake. The lodge also has a wood burning hot tub out front to relax in after your day on the water and take in the views of Iliamna Lake. Each guest room within the lodge features comfortable beds, high-quality linens, and your own private bathroom and shower. The lodge was designed to not only be a functioning fishing lodge, but also a very comfortable place to relax at each evening after your day of adventures. Also, with this being one of our smaller lodges within our Alaskan lineup, anglers can expect an intimate experience that will please even the most seasoned travelers.

How To Get There
Your trip starts upon arrival in Anchorage’s Ted Stevens International Airport (ANC). Several major airlines serve Alaska from the Lower 48 with connections direct to Anchorage. It is recommended that all anglers spend their first evening in Anchorage (Yellow Dog can assist with hotel recommendations). From Anchorage, you will fly to Iliamna, Alaska (ILI) with a domestic airline such as Iliamna Air Taxi or Lake Clark Air, which service Iliamna daily and have multiple flights each day throughout the summer.
Arrival and Departure Details/Times
Guests stay overnight in Anchorage the day before your trip begins and connect to Iliamna the following morning. Connections can be made through domestic airlines such as Iliamna Air Taxi or Lake Clark Air. Any arrival or departure times into Iliamna can be accommodated on your pre-arranged arrival and departure days.
Photo identification is required by airlines and to purchase your Alaska Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased on the first day of your trip, or online prior to your trip, by visiting this website: Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

The fishing program at Intricate Bay and diversity of scenarios available rivals that of any lodge in Alaska. Not only does the lodge have some incredible home water fishing opportunities on the Copper and Gibraltar Rivers, but also the ability to fly anglers into some of the most renowned and famous watersheds in the Bristol Bay region.
The home water fishing on the Copper River is home to one of the largest salmon runs anywhere in Alaska, in turn making it incredible trout fishing for rainbows, arctic char, and dolly varden. Intricate Bay does access the Copper River by jet boat, but will also fly anglers upstream and deploy rafts to float higher sections of the river. Intricate Bay is one of the only lodges within the area with access to the upper stretches of the Copper, which is not only loaded with great fishing but also spectacular scenery. When not fishing the home water opportunities, Intricate Bay will also fly anglers to other renowned rivers including the Kvichak, Moraine, Funnel, Battle, Talarik, and many others utilizing jet boats, rafts and wade fishing. The options at Intricate Bay are endless, and the pilots and guides will work with each angler to deliver the scenarios they are looking to experience during their stay.
Boats and Equipment
A DeHavilland Beaver and Cessna 206 are the main aircraft that fly anglers to different locations each day during their stay. Intricate Bay also utilizes a fleet of cached jet boats and rafts throughout the region to access the different fisheries each day. Anglers are welcome to bring all of their own fishing gear during their stay, but Intricate Bay Lodge can also outfit all guests with any equipment needs during their stay. All flies and terminal tackle are included in all fishing packages.
