Travel Details

How To Get There
Fly direct to the Anchorage International Airport (ANC) from the Lower 48 via several major airlines. The flight from Anchorage to King Salmon, Alaska (AKN) is included in your lodge package.

Arrival and Departure Details / Times
All No See Um trips run Monday through Monday. The Monday morning flight out of Anchorage to the Lodge departs at 3:00 P.M. through Katmai Air Taxi. The lodge books this portion of travel so anglers are only responsible for getting themselves to Anchorage. We recommend anglers arrive in Anchorage on Sunday to provide cushion time in the event of any delays or lost baggage through commercial airlines. On the return, anglers will arrive back in Anchorage around 12 P.M. the following Monday. We recommend anglers book their flights home for any time after 2 P.M.

Minors Traveling Without Both Parents
All children 18 years of age or younger accompanied by only one parent or legal guardian must have a NOTARIZED letter of consent from the other parent stating the child/children have his/her permission to travel. Single parents need NOTARIZED documentation of divorce or a spousal death certificate. Unaccompanied Minors require a NOTARIZED letter of consent signed by both parents.

Documents Required
Photo identification is required by airlines to purchase your Alaska Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased on the first day of your trip or online before your trip by visiting this website: Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Fishing

General Information
Located in the greater Iliamna region, the fishing at No See Um Lodge changes almost daily. With a maximum of ten guests per week, the guest-to-guide ratio is never more than 2:1, so you can be assured No See Um can accommodate all your needs. Owner John Holman and his excellent team of pilots and guides give you the best options nightly so you can decide what you would like to experience the next day.

With two Beavers on floats for a maximum of only 10 guests, the planes stay with you each day while you’re fishing, ready for a quick pick up if the fishing, conditions, or weather dictate it. Very few lodges in Alaska offer this luxury! Also, since the lodge is located directly on the banks of the Kvichak River, you’ll never miss a day of fishing due to the weather.

Boats and Equipment
No See Um utilizes three De Havilland Beavers on floats and aluminum jet boats equipped with Yamaha jet motors. For accessing the trout regions of the Kvichak, the Lodge has three 22-foot inboard jet sleds equipped with heaters for your comfort. It is recommended that anglers bring all of their own gear including rods, reels, waders, and wading boots, but can be borrowed from the lodge if needed.

Yellow Dog Client Reviews

“By day 4 I was ready to say this trip transformed my life. I have a new appreciation for the world and my place in it. Fishing the Moraine, Brooks, Gertrude, Contact, and Kulik waters among the bears and other wildlife, seeing pristine unadulterated land as far as the eye can see, and being with such giving passionate people as No See Um had, plus the lodge and food and other kind guests- it was truly the trip of a lifetime. So I need another life so I can do it again.” – Matt G.
.
“This was a trip of a lifetime. Couldn’t have been better.” –
Dennis C.
.
This experience was a fishing trip of a lifetime. The lodge, planes, boats, staff, food, and the waters we fished were all first-rate. A small number of guests allowed to have some great social time as well after a day’s fishing. I can’t think of one thing I would have changed!” – Carl L.
.
“Incredible all-around experience. Fishing was great, but so was the attention to detail by NSL staff. My son is relatively new to fly fishing and all guides were extremely helpful, patient, and effective in their instruction.” – Rick F.
.
“It was one of the best fishing trips ever. Dream come true.” – Brett T.
.
“Was the very first “bucket list” trip I can recall wishing for when I was a child. Took 59 years to get there, but everything I imagined.” – Stacy M.
