Description

The Hatch Nipper 3 is a full redesign of Hatch's original nipper, built for anglers who want a precision line-cutting tool that holds up over years of daily use. A new ergonomic shape, machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a misted texture finish, gives it a natural feel and precise control in hand, while a needle post built into the tool handles cleaning glue or cement out of even the smallest fly eyelets.

A redesigned 302 stainless steel torsion spring uses a compact single-wrap design that meaningfully improves life expectancy over earlier Hatch models, and the tungsten carbide cutters are custom-machined for abrasion resistance, built to trim delicate 7x and heavier fluorocarbon tag ends with confidence. It ships with a custom Hatch lanyard and is made in small batches in Southern California, USA, so anodize and finish can vary slightly piece to piece.

Features

•    Redesigned Ergonomic Shape — 6061-T6 aluminum with a misted texture finish for a natural, precise grip.
•    New Torsion Spring — 302 stainless steel, compact single-wrap design for improved life expectancy.
•    Tungsten Carbide Cutters — Custom-machined, abrasion-resistant, rated for 7x and heavier mono/fluorocarbon.
•    Needle Post — Built in for cleaning eyelets on even the smallest flies.
•    Custom Hatch Lanyard Included — Ready to wear or clip on from day one.
•    Made in Southern California, USA — Small-batch production with hand-finished anodize.

New Shape - Now featuring a new ergonomic shape, crafted from 6061-T6 aluminum, protected with type II Anodize, and finished with a misted texture for ideal grip. Lends to a more natural feel and precise control in hand. Trim up those delicate 7x and heavier fluorocarbon tag ends with confidence.

New Spring - We have designed a torsion spring specifically made for our application. This 302 stainless steel spring features a compact single wrap design to exert rotary force. We know what you're thinking...What does this mean? It’s badass and drastically improved the life expectancy over previous models.

Cutters - Our tungsten carbide cutters have been and always will be the best on the market. We utilized decades of machining experience to create our custom cutting surfaces with an emphasis on abrasion resistance and reliable cuts through mono and fluorocarbon materials. The design has held up and proven itself since the original nippers were launched in 2016.

The Nipper 3 also features a needle post sized for cleaning eyelets from your even your smallest flies.

FAQ

What's new about the "3.0" design?
Hatch redesigned three core elements for this version: a new ergonomic shape machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a misted texture for a more natural grip and precise control; a new 302 stainless steel torsion spring with a compact single-wrap design that Hatch says meaningfully improves life expectancy over earlier models; and refined tungsten carbide cutting surfaces built for abrasion resistance and reliable cuts through mono and fluorocarbon, building on a cutter design Hatch has proven out since their original nippers launched in 2016.

What does the needle post do?
A built-in needle post is sized for cleaning head cement or glue out of the eyelets on even the smallest flies, so you don't need a separate tool to keep your flies threading cleanly.

What line can it actually cut?
The tungsten carbide cutters are built to trim delicate 7x and heavier fluorocarbon up to approximately 60# with confidence, along with standard monofilament up to 100#. The custom-machined cutting surfaces are designed for abrasion resistance, so the edge holds up over repeated cuts rather than dulling quickly the way a cheaper cutter would.
