Authentic Alaska Sportfishing Experience at Fixed Based Lodge and Tent Cabins

Aniak River Lodge is located in Western Alaska in the Kuskokwim River drainage. A main tributary to the Kuskokwim, the Aniak River is home to 10 different species of fish that are all targetable on the fly, and Aniak River Lodge is perfectly situated to allow easy access to all of them. Anglers will fly from Anchorage to the small town of Aniak where they will be met by the lodge staff. Over the week, anglers will split their time between the main lodge and the tent camp which is about 30 minutes upriver. Being the only lodge on the river, Aniak River Lodge has exclusive access to nearly 60 miles of pristine river and tributaries making this an extraordinary angling experience. For any mouse lover, this is an exceptional fishery right up your alley!

Accommodation Details

Lodging Details
Aniak River Lodge has two separate locations on the Aniak. A permanent lodge on the lower river and a temporary tent camp upriver. Over six days, anglers will experience the best of both worlds when it comes to the comforts of home at the main lodge and the rustic but very comfortable camp living while fishing the upper river. The main lodge has several double occupancy cabins overlooking the Aniak with each having its own private bathroom. Accommodations at the upper camp are in weather-port cabins with wood-framed floors and a main dining cook tent. For being in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness, Aniak River Lodge has established two incredibly comfortable yet “rustic” locations where anglers are just steps away from some of the best rainbow trout fishing in Alaska.

Food and Beverages
All meals are cooked on location by a professional chef and kitchen staff. Meals consist of many American favorites in addition to some international dishes and the occasional fresh sheefish caught right from the Aniak. Breakfast is served buffet style with lunches served on the river with your guide. Hot appetizers are served upon returning from the river with dinner to follow promptly at 7 PM. Aniak River Lodge does not provide any alcoholic beverages so it’s highly recommended you purchase your libations in Anchorage and bring them with you on the charter flight. You will not be able to purchase adult beverages in the town of Aniak.

Typical Length of Stay
The typical length of stay is six (6) days / seven (7) nights. Saturday to Saturday itinerary.

Non-Angling Activities and Options
Aniak River Lodge is a dedicated fishing operation as there are very few if any, non-angling options available.

Internet / Communications
Anglers will not have cell service while at Aniak River Lodge. Some internet may be available but guests should expect to be removed from any email and cell phone access during their week. If you must be in contact with home or work, we recommend renting/purchasing a satellite phone.

General Overview
Due to being the only lodge on the Aniak, Aniak River Lodge has exclusive access to nearly 60 miles of pristine rainbow trout habitat. Throughout the week, anglers will access several different sections of the river by way of jet boat and cover water by either wading or fishing directly from the boat. Mousing is a very popular tactic on this river as the rainbows are aggressive and rely heavily on rodent populations for food. The Aniak is also home to a variety of species including sheefish, northern pike, grayling, Dolly Varden, and all 5 species of Pacific salmon.

Boats and Equipment
Aniak River Lodge utilizes several 14 – 16ft jet boats to navigate the many channels on the Aniak River. If anglers need to borrow any gear, the lodge does have some available but they highly recommend everyone bring their own.

Yellow Dog Client Reviews

“The fishing was excellent, with the highlight being mousing those big Rainbows. But the reason you steered me to Aniak was the variety, and there was plenty of that.  In addition to the big bows, I caught Dollys, grayling, pike, kings, a pink, and sockeye.  I will highly recommend Aniak to all my friends. Just want to take a minute here to say thank you and Yellow Dog for the excellent guidance throughout this past year.  I couldn’t (and probably wouldn’t have) done it without you. I’ll be flipping through the catalog scoping out my next adventure.” – Rick B.
